COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA--the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today. Its sharp hop bitterness begins with huge pine notes on the nose, which evolve into bright citrus (think grapefruit) and subtle stone fruit flavors.

Bottle. Aroma: sweet, spicy, candied fruits, raisin, nectar, a little zest of citrus. Taste: sweetish, grapefruit, zest, nectar, fruit, decent hop bitterness, a bit too old.

For me the excessive alcohol destroys it. I prefer to drink their normal IPA. New to me I have only ever seen the word imperial attached to stouts

355ml bottle. Bbe 16.03.18. Poured deep golden color with a thin white head. Resiny sweet malty, with some grapefruit and citrusy flavors. Has some age but pretty nice aggressive bitterness with some piny hops. Refreshing and drinks well.

Third flying dog tasting, this one a new one for me. Finishes very similarly, a little unbalanced, bitter and boozy. Nose is great. Amber and citus like hop nigges. Overall still pretty good.

Aroma is hoppy and malty, nicely perfumed. Oranges, slight malty backbone, hop juice. Slight yeast. Taste is sharp and quite balanced, with a slight caramel and peach jam combined with grapefruit and pine. Quite sweet. Finish is a bit harsh with a higher level of bitterness than usual. Very nice, nonetheless.

The Truth IPA: I think it might be on my shelf. I keep trying and trying and trying but I just can't reach it.

"I do solemnly swear ..."

Jolly good IIPA, but it lacks some finesse of the real great ones. Just too mechanical and technical and not juicy enough. But take this over another plain beer anytime though.
