Honey color, white fizzy head gone in seconds. Earthy nose, light mushroom, honey, and a bit of citrus and paint thinner. Flavor shows more honey, earth/cork. Bit thin overly fizzy, and some heat in the finish. Have to admit this is one of the worst examples of a saison that Ive tasted.

C&C 750 mL bottle courtesy of maniac. Thanks! Pours a clear amber with a medium white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, bread, honey, apples, lightly tart finish. The taste is tart apples, bready notes, tart finish. Medium-full bodied. Decent.

A: snifter. cloudy pale orange with a solid white head. good retention and moderate lacing. S: a lot of orange peel aromas, solid sour tone followed by the sweetness of the malts. good spice characteristics. T: solid sour orange in this. not much of the honey, but it is present. great spice character s well. the sourness is good but not overwhelming. M:very bubbly mouthfeel. very clean and crisp. carbonation is a little high and the body is a little thick for a saison. D: very good beer, but a little sweet for the style. there is also too much orange in this. worthy of a try, but I dont see myself searching for it.

Found this gem at Stateline liquors in Elkton, late July. Poured into my Chimay chalice. My first review of a retired beer. A- Nearly opaque golden yellow body with a giant frothy white head that takes forever to settle down (which is what is prohibiting it from a 5.0...I couldnt pour it without it overflowing). It finally settles to a 1 finger thick eggshell white head. Cloudiness is thick and dynamic. When held up to the light bubbles can be seen rising to the top. A truly beautiful beer. S-The smell good but not as potent as the rest of the brew. Mild floral hops tingle the nostril first followed by a fruity scent of pear and apples. T-Upfront is a semi-tart/semi-sweet fruity flavor of pear and apples. This is accented by minimal floral hop flavor and a big bready yeast backbone. The finish has a sudden presence of floral hop bitterness along with a touch of alcohol. What lingers is a hint of floral hops and the bready yeast. P-Medium carbonation and a mouthfeel full of yeast. Its much thicker than others I have tried of this style (which may come with age). Big silky and smooth. O- I really liked this and I wish I would have picked up more than one bottle. I know the other reviews for this are much lower than mine...but maybe all this beer needed was some aging...Im sure it was much boozier in the beginning. This is a wonderful brew overall and the best I have tried from this brewing co. edit: when sorted high to low...all of the highest ratings are from 2008...just more suggestion that this one needed some aging. (bottle - corked & caged 750 ml) Hazy orange pour with very little head or carbonation. Mild spicy and funky aroma with some mild sweetness and spice. Flavor is very dry and earthy. Funky spice flavors move in with a very, very dry and almost damp tasting finish. I think I may have let it sit too long.

Bottle shared by a friend. Pours a clear gold/amber with a fizzy medium white head. Semi-funky nose with acetaldehyde and a bit of malt. Malty and syrupy flavor with some funk and caramel on the back end.
