Not bad for saison from Colorado. Highly carbonated at first but it seemed to disappear rapidly. Tasted lemony with beglian yeasts following. The appearance was cloudy and pale yellow. Great for a summer beer. TheBeerGod (6226) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - NOV 5, 2006
Pricey ass bottle at Falling Rock! Corked and caged. Amber bodied. Nose is yeast, big fruit, flowers, sweet malts, and candy sugar. Taste is yeast and floral with strong fruit flavors and sweet malts. Seemed candyish at times. Body is strongly carbonated and bubbly with a light-medium overall feel. Finishes with more fruit notes, yeast, spice, candyish notes and sweet malts. Ernest (7699) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 1, 2006
UPDATED: MAR 12, 2007 Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, mold), with strong notes of banana (or perhaps cotton candy / bubble gum is closer to it) and clove.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Finally gave it another shot from the bottle (previous rating from GABF samples), and yeah, same score...this sure as heck ain’t a saison. Too thick and sweet by a long shot. Aroma is little more than a banana-and-clove bomb. I could very easily score this in the 1’s if I was feeling a bit less forgiving...this is pretty much the polar opposite of a saison. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - OCT 20, 2006
Bottles at the release party @ Flying Dog: Poured a hazy golden amber color with a large off-white head. The cork flew across the room and almost took out an eye. Big yeasty aroma with notes of dust and cereal. Yeasty, fruity esters and malt flavors. Moderate sweetness. Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 15, 2006
Pour is hazy golden yellow with a thin dense white head...grassy and vanilla aroma...very sweet with thick syrupy mouthfeel...some light funk...not bad....
