3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle poured into a chalice. Pours a ruddy mahogany with a thin off-white cap of foam on top. This fleets away quickly, leaving just bits of lace on the glass. Aroma of fig, raisins, yeast, syrup, wet hay. Moderate body bolsters this beer. Not overly carbonated as some tend to be. Rich syrupy finish.
Dark fruits pervade. Fig, plum, toffee, bits of ginger, rounded out with a touch of spicy yeast. This isn’t overly "Belgian" by any means. Definitely an American stab at it, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A good representation, and a tasty cap to my evening. I think this would make a good one to draw someone into these Abbey-styles. Nice work, FF.
Pour from bottle. Clear brown color. Toasted malt nose. Surprisingly tasty.

12 ounce bottle. Copper, brown color. Small bubbly beige head. Sweet toasted malt nose has phenolic notes. Sweet fruity malt flavor has yeasty notes. Cocoa, nutty malt middle. Earthy yeastiness in finish, with alcohol warmth. Somewhat pale in comparison to the real Belgian examples. Good nonetheless. makeitadouble (8) - Florida, USA - AUG 28, 2017 does not count
Flying Fish Dubbel - This beer is complex, yet straight forward.
Typically it is difficult to find a good Dubbel that is not an import, if you find that this is the case for you I would recommend this you look no further. This Belgian Style Beer is a beautiful caricature of its inspiration. with 9.1 IBU’s this Beer is SWEET, very chocolaty, and malty. Its Dark Amber in color with a 1 finger vanilla colored head. The nose of the beer is very nutty and smooth. The carbonation is somewhat light but it only ads to the charm. At 7.2& ABV I has enough kick to to keep you coming back. beastiefan2k (4179) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - AUG 24, 2017
I drink this a decent amount cause my wife likes the beer. So, when I am making a mix 6 and it’s available I throw it in. At this point, I’m rating it in a flight at the brewery. It’s a slightly too sweet and too clean American version, but neither too much. Lots of herbal and phenolic yeastiness counteracting it. It’s a bit much in draft but nice in a bottle that finally made it to a mix-a-six rack after a few months at a store. jtclockwork (17604) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 23, 2017

12 oz single bottle from Total Wine & More - Gilbert, AZ. Clear, deep amber appearance with a lasting tan head. Aroma of fruity esters, caramel malt, light toffee and a touch red wine. Similar flavor, rich, fruity, vinous and sweet with a light spicy bitterness and a lingering finish hinting at Belgian yeast. Medium body with ample carbonation. Solid. hershiser2 (3821) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - NOV 24, 2016
Bottle from total wine. Pours clear light brown with only a dusting of a head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel malts. Taste is black cherries, chocolate malts, caramel, but overwhelming dark fruit, especially cherry. Almost a peanut buttery finish as well. Quite tasty.

Pretty tasty, a bit of the Belgian flavor in the back but not over powering.
