Double IPA that gives Pliny the Elder a serious run for its money. Super smooth. Light. Extraordinarily drinkable. One of my favorites. knevison (1) - Hockessin, Delaware, USA - APR 1, 2015 does not count
This is a very tasty, clean, strong beer that is a quite piney IPA. I was pretty impressed by the light colour to high ABV relationship, but overall it leaves a good, easy taste in your mouth and you’ll be left wanting more. This brewery is becoming one of my local favourites. dnstone (3498) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - AUG 14, 2010
Excellent citrus-pine aroma. Glows a golden color with a soft white head; smooth, thick appearence. Flovor is citrus-piney with a great hoppy finish. Smooth yet light with an excellent body. Perhaps I have been starved for hops here in Belgium, but this is an incredible IPA to me. tvazteca (20) - Brighton, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 12, 2013
Amazing beer, with all sorts of variants of citrusy hops. Honestly shocked how amazing this beer was. NJDevilz69 (28) - Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, USA - JUN 8, 2010
750ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a decent head. Aroma is very pine, grassy with citrus notes. Nice dry taste with a nice body, very astringent mouth feel. Might be the best beer from Flying Fish I have had thus far.

Reviewed 12/14/2012. 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: Pours a lighter straw color with fantastic clarity. This could easily be mistaken for a pilsner. The head is a two finger white color with nice retention. Quite a bit of lace is left on the glass, as well.
S: I notice a lot of pineapple, mango, apricot, pine, and coriander. Hell, I even pick up some of the wild rice used. Quite the impressive aroma in general. However, I can see how someone could pick up ’cat pee’ from the Citra hops - thankfully it all works quite well in this one.
T: THIS is the kind of IPA I like. Light, citrusy, crisp, and refreshing - without any overdone maltiness or hop harshness to spoil things. The citrusy character on this is particularly well done - chock full of mango, passion fruit, apricot, grapefruit, and guava. A slight ’green’ flavor comes through in the midtaste as well, but it’s hardly what I’d call "piny." Neither is it remotely bitter. Maybe it could use a little more complexity...when the few flavors it presents are so incredible, though, who really cares?
M: Completely bone dry and crisp, just as advertised. If the flavors weren’t so joyous to savor, this would go down spectacularly easy. Honestly, though, the ultra-dry finish somehow fits this beer. It’s one of those offerings that I like to keep swishing around in my mouth because I want to savor every last drop. The hop resins linger nicely without providing much bitterness.
O: I hardly ever go this high with my ratings. But this one I feel deserves it. The only other Flying Fish beer I had was the extremely meh Winter Reserve - so who would have ever thought they would come through with such a fantastic DIPA? In retrospect, $16 for a 6-pack is kind of a bargain, really. bradleysaurus (51) - - JUL 29, 2013
Best rice beer I have ever had. Crisp cool taste. Light carbonation and sutle aftertaste. dagimp (1008) - Philly, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2013 Note: this rating is for the original release, not for the new beer brewed in the new brewery which isn’t nearly as good.
From a 750 into a snifter. Aroma is just outstanding... the best part of this beer and the best aroma I’ve smelled in an IPA .... probably ever. It’s of mango and papaya and flowers and pineapple... just awesome. Pours with an inch or so of fizzy head with disappears quickly leaving no lacing. Mouthfeel is very good, dry, tart but a tiny bit overcarbonated. It doesn’t really detract from the beer but it is the one soft spot of this beer. Taste is just about as good as the smell. Includes all of those flavors and with some resin, pine and bitter hops. Very dry beer and not a bit sticky... different for this type of IIPA, but I like it a lot. If you can get you paws on a bottle of this, by all means do it. You’ll like it a lot! evilcougar (66) - Evansville, Indiana, USA - DEC 6, 2013
Received on a trade from mikeq215:
Pours a nice bright clear yellow blonde.
3" white pillowy head (with fairly gentle pour).
Aroma of orchard fruits: grapes and apples stand out.
Tastes pretty much as it smells.
A sweet ipa without a lingering finish.
I would drink this again if the opportunity presents itself.

Extremely good stuff here. Golden amber color with a rocky white head that laces nicely. Intense pine and citrus aroma right from the bottle and then with each sip. Taste has a bit of sweetness up front and then more hops. Very nice after taste that stays with you a while. Finish is very very dry.
