COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian-style strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness and clove (although there is no fruit or spice in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. It is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

Malts: Two-Row Pale, Cara-8, White Wheat, Demerera Sugar, Acidulated
Hops: Styrian Golding, Columbus
Yeast: Belgian Abbey Style
Original Gravity: 15.7 plato

Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&Cs beer palace, Jutland 28/02/14, acquired from Wegmans Downington. Lightly hazed golden orange with a trace of off white spotting and edgework. Nose is tangy fruit, candied orange peel, sugars, spice, yeasty notes. Taste comprises much the same, bitter dark fruit, toffee, light spice, yeast esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Belgian affair but nothing Id rush back to - good for the price point mind!

Bottle, 12oz. An almost clear one, golden in color and with an off-white head. Some Belgian style yeast and fruityness, white sugar and a touch of citrus in the aroma. Alcohol too. The flavor has a little bitterness, not so much sweetness, but some alcohol. Belgian yeast, fruityness and a faint herbal, spiced hint. Warming and full-bodied with a nice carbonation. Fruity finish with a nice bitterness. A pretty decent one, but it cant compete with the best Belgians in any way. 140228

Bottle from the Total Wine on Arden in Sacramento. Pours hazy orange/gold with a creamy white head. Aromas of fruit and yeast/spice. Near full bodied. Flavor is yeast/spice with light stone fruit. Its dry, very lightly bitter, but the yeast/spice seems to cover the bitter necessities of life. Its very good.
