Opaque dark brown beer, not much of a head. Light coffee on the nose. Light palate, a tad dry. Mild mild espresso with light dark malts. Mild minerals. Everything seems pretty light for an Imperial beer at 8.2% but quite quaffable!
(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a beige head. Sweetish, roasted malt aroma - some vanilla also. Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, lightly burned with some cola notes and a dry, burned bitterness from the malt. 310807 fiulijn (20992) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 31, 2007
Dark mahogany color. A beer based on (sweet) caramel, with a respectable body and (IMO) not much bitterness, also some roastedmalt; but lack of complexity and interest. jtclockwork (16952) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2010

GABF ’07. Pours black with an average, creamy, light brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, molasses, chocolate), light hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of tar and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - APR 13, 2008
(Bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of mustiness, chocolate, light smoke, roastiness, and toffee. Flavor of chocolate, caramel malt, light coffee, and roasted malt. hopdog (12864) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 2, 2007
12oz bottle shared courtesy of Zrrbrrt. Poured a deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, some dark fruits, and light coffee/ latte. Almost reminded me of a baltic porter. Tastes of roast, vanilla and light coffee. I love coffee beers and anything with the words ’Imperial Espresso’ in the title gets me excited to try, but I have to admit, I was let down. To me Imperial Espresso should be all about the coffee and I found the coffee aspect to be lacking (that being said, this was still a solid beer). Bottle broken up from six-pack, courtesy of State Line Liquor. A complex beer, though criticism its too much on the sweet side. Pours a coffeeish dark, with a white head a little bubbly. The taste, sourish, a bit dry, and a malt backbone. A little lace starts to show, some expresso flavouring. Medium mouthfeel, it is suitably carbonaation and gives some smooth mouthfeel. There is brown sugar. It is a dry sout with much too high on the sweetness scale, good for some.
