Draft at the Grey Lodge in Philly. Nice solid porter. Good rasty flavor that wasn’t too overpowering. Alcohol was hidden very well.
A- Pours a deep brownish hue with a 3 finger, chunky, medium brown head.
S- Smells like a barbecue pit, deep coffee notes.
T- BBQ pringles up front, roasted malt, coffee.
M- Thick with medium carbonation.
D- The BBQ notes really rubbed me the wrong way ... especially in the nose.

Opaque dark brown beer, not much of a head. Light coffee on the nose. Light palate, a tad dry. Mild mild espresso with light dark malts. Mild minerals. Everything seems pretty light for an Imperial beer at 8.2% but quite quaffable!
Bottled. Dark and roasted but thin and drinkable. Mild, session quality, w/ heat. kbutler1 (1381) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Bottle. Pours a dark brown coffee color with a big fat 1 finger head. The aroma is that of coffee roast (duh), molasses, brown sugar, and slight leather. The head recedes rather quckly and leaves minimal lace as it settles. Medium mouthfeel. Sweeter than I anticipated with a mild dark chocolate start that gives way to a more medium roast style flavor of coffee. For being an imperial it doesn’t really have that over the top booze flavor that some get. Enjoyable but I’d have liked to see a more coffee forward flavor in this to really put it over the top. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 17, 2010
Bottle courtesy of Stephen on 06/28/2010. I wrote down "Flying Dog Imperial Espresso Stout" but I think this is the right one. Clear dark brown body with a small tan had. Sweet roast and coffee aroma. Big coffee flavor with some roast and chocolate. Medium body with low carbonation.

this is a local favorite of mine. taken the flying fish tour many times. this is one of my favorite coffee flavored beers. taste is pure coffee with a lite hint of chocolate. a bit thin on the palate but it is a porter not a stout so thats to be expected. jtclockwork (17101) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2010
UPDATED: APR 18, 2012 Dark brownish black pour. Nose is more caramel chocolate malt than coffee. Taste is chocolate coffee with dryish finish. Rated 8/10/08 speonkcake (10) - New York, USA - MAR 12, 2010
Good score, vlad wishes more on the palate than espresso, but not every beer delivers everything for everybody.
Mike and Thunder bng fans, sadly this is our last bottle, for now!

12oz bottle from footbalm, thanks! zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 31, 2010
Appearance: Black, almost opaque with a creamy light tan head that dissipates quickly
Aroma: Coffee, roasted malts and chocolate
Taste: Roasted malts and coffee. Leaves a light medicinal taste on the tongue
Silky mouthfeel, the 8% alcohol doesn’t come through.
Tap: dark pour with tan head, nice cofee and smoky malts, notes of chocolate, prunes and cherries. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but a nice beer all the same.
