I gotta start rating beers that I don’t love. Since this is rated in retrospect I figured what the hell, perfect score it is. Probably my favourite from Cask Days, although I haven’t went through the list and checked off the multitude I sampled yet. Oh, and of course, besides the Du de Ciel Soulstice D’Hiver and Peche Mortel.
The taste was bitter sweet chocolate, with a very full bodied syrupy texture. Bit hoppy, and some lovely malt action going on. Drank like a chocolate wine (especially at 12.5%) if such a thing existed, only smoother like fondue. And loved the low carbonation bit. gilvanblight (825) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
Very dark almost black pour with a thick foamy tan head. Extremely chocolate scent. Coco and coffee. Wow holy chocolate. Like good Belgian chocolate. It’s like good Belgian dark chocolate. This is fantastic

Dec 8 2012. 750ml bottle pours jet black with thick bubbly head that turns to tan foam and leaves nice long creamy lacing. Aroma is a blast of rich chocolate which is a good warning of things to come. First taste is a sweet punch in the mouth of cocoa nibs, darker and richer than any chocolate I’ve ever had in any format. It’s so overpowering its all I can taste for a while. After a few long sips the alcohol starts in on the full bodied mouth attack as it slaps its 10% in there right after the cocoa blast with a bitter/sour kick that is followed by a long bitter coffee aftertaste. The only thing that keeps this brew from completely blowing my mind is that it is so rich it can only be sipped at. Rich body doesn’t mean it weighs on palate. Very silky smooth mouthfeel with alcohol clinging its sour bitterness before giving way to long coffee finish. Absolutely fantastic!!! tbadiuk (10) - Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 3, 2012
Pours black as night, rich chocolate and coca smell. Taste is more of the same, very viscious and lush. Think Southern Tier Chokolat, but a bit less sweet, a bit more flavourful, and a little thinner (although there is nothing thin about this one!). Excellent beer, so good that it even inspired me to take the time to rate it! Digital_Aura (228) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 8, 2012
750ml bottle. Thank God I stumbled on this. I've never had anything more chocolatey (besides actual chocolate). Eclipse in a glass - no light penetrates. Dark (Lovibond 45). Huge dense head which persists a long time. It's pretty near a chocolate milk shake. Tastes incredible. Rich. Rich. Fudgey dark chocolate flavours. Gorgeous nutty malts to finish. I could drink this forever.

Amazing aroma. It’s all chocolate as soon as the cap is popped. Midnight black in the glass with a dark mocha head. Super smooth and and a flavour that is full of chocolate. Not overly sweet. More fudge-y than milk chocolate-y. Creamy and smooth and no trace of the 10%. Amazing beer. Strangebrewer (1309) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 4, 2014
bottle. Poured solid black with a large brown milky head. The aroma is amazing, sweet chocolate fudge with vanilla. Full body with a rich and creamy mouthfeel with a dry finish, slightly astringent. Flavour is sweet and roasty with notes of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, oh and CHOCOLATE. Has a slight grainy quality but I can get over that. Bottle: Thanks Gothgargoyle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Deep dark brown black pour. Medium sized brown foamy head on top of a black beer.
The aroma is the most balanced, complex, interesting, smooth and delicious aroma a Imperial Chocolate Stout has ever had imo!
Dark chocolate, cacoa, smooth roast, brownies, mocha, sweet chocolate, marvelous aroma!
Flavour is in the same range of the aroma: awesome balanced and perfect pairing with (3) chocolate ice! Oh wow, really good! Dark chocolate, chocolate, cacoa, bitters, cacoa beans, some coffee, mocha and roast with a sweet edge. Amazing!
Sticky dark chocolate cacoa mocha bitter aftertaste. Delicious!
Low carbo, creamy silky mouthfeel, full bodied and an oily sticky texture.
Close to perfect, damn this is really good! Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 26, 2015
Wow this is where it’s at! Basically as billed... Huge on chocolate Aroma and flavor with a balance all around... Finishes sweet but you’d never know it’s 10 percent! cards04 (2808) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 2, 2012
Wow wow wow. Pours black with chocolate milk head. You can smell this from a mile away. It’s all chocolate. Amazing. Smells like brownies, chocolate milk and vanilla. Tastes like chocolate milk, brownies soaked in booze, and all things good. If you enjoy a nice chocolate-based imperial stout...this is the ticket. Sweet chocolate with just enough roasted malt and boozy bitterness to make this one of the best I’ve ever had.
