COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Defying real focus (how unlike us!), we had to call Hoptical Illusion an Almost Pale Ale (5% Alc./Vol. / IBU 17.5 / Colour SRM 3.44). Hoptical Illusion approaches the characteristics of a pale ale, but takes a quick u-turn at the end. At 18 IBUs versus 25 and up for English Pale Ales, we’re hoppier than most commercial beers, but not too crazy. The star of the show is the dizzying aroma of the privately grown Amarillo hop. Beyond the provocative citrus and floral essences that resonate from the Amarillo’s small, tight cone is a subtle but unique maltiness blended from amber kiln and roasted specialty malts. Finishing with a final Amarillo reference, Hoptical Illusion is a beer that doesn’t beat you over the head, steal your wallet, and jack your car. But you still wouldn’t want meet it in a dark alley.

On tap at Kaapse Brouwers, Rotterdam. Nose is honey and citrus. Body is clear amber, head is big, beige, creamy, mostly lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is caramel, pineapple, tropical fruits, wood, tea. Medium sweet, light to medium roasty bitter. Finish is medium lasting roasty and hoppy medium bitter. Medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation. Easy, tasty, interesting, nice one.

Retrogusto a maltas tipo munich o vienna

Tap at Erzbierschof. Aroma of sweet pastry, some citric aroma hops well hidden. Round taste, good beer, nothing exceptional though.

Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Slightly papery and tired tasting malts. Thin cream. A residue of some floralness and a modicum of spice. Light semi dry finish. Tastes very tired.

Tasted on 355ml bottle bought in Brazil. Pretty good pale ale, I excepted it to be a little hoppier, but perhaps it isn't as fresh as it should be. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tranquillity (2506) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 26, 2015
Draft. Clear red brown body, fine medium head. Almost smoky aroma, like weed. Musky, but very nice. The taste is refreshingly hoppy, with a fullness of nutty flavours to go with it.
