Heeding a chorus of voices crying for a dark roasty thing with lots of west coast hops and a higher ABV, we summoned Netherworld from the chaotic flipside of the brewhouse where hybrid is the norm and nothing is ordinary. Hovering just this side of evil, in the right hands, our «Cascadian Dark Ale» is bizarrely nice with its own entrancing mojo. However, watch out for those who refuse to see the darkness.

Bottle at home. Pours black with a thick head which is slightly brown, medium retention. Aroma is hoppy, in a very herbal way. Earthy and spicy, conjuring up foresty aromas. Dark malts are nicely present too. Herbal and spicy notes dominate though. Some hints of coffee and chocolate. Medium body. Flavour builds up very nice, with a surprisingly long finish. Starts of malty and sweet, followed by rich caramel and chocolate flavours. Hops less prominent than in the nose IMO, but with a nice herbal-spicy kick and a good bitterness which I enjoy. Have to say this is really nicely balanced. The more I drink of this, the more I like it. Finishes rather dry, but with a really nice malty and very hoppy touch and some coffee. Really nice. I love black IPAs and this is a really good one.

kramer (6991) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2018
Bottle. Pours a clear brown body with a minimal ring of beige head. The nose is more Porter than IPA, with some nice chocolate and cocoa notes over a little citrusy and piney hoppiness. The flavor is pretty similar, nice chocolate and toasty notes, but a little husky as well. Finishes with a slightly harsh bitterness, not a whole lot of hop flavor. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a lingering burnt finish. Not the best combination of flavors going on in here. 3/6/7/3/12

355 ml. bottle @ Home. Aroma: quite intense aroma of black chocolate, roasted malts, toasted malts, spices, pine, cocoa. Some yeast, alcohol and earthy overtones. Appearance: brown color, with beige to light brown head. It seems it has low hazyness. High head thickness with high retention. Very creamy foam. Medium to high lacing. Taste: low sweetness, low to medium bitterness, low sourness. Flavors of spices, dark chocolate, roasted malts, toasted malts, cocoa. Hints of roasted coffee. Maybe pine too, but it's not easy to spot it because of the roasted flavors. Balance is on the bitter side. Mouthfeel is a little spicy, even tangy at first, but that feeling disappears after a few seconds. Palate: medium body, oily to silky texture, medium carbonation, very long finish with low to medium bitterness and a lot of flavors of roasted malts, dark chocolate, toasted malts, cocoa. Alcohol is only noticeable through a little sweetness. No astringency from the roasted malts is noticeable. Overall: appearance, aromas and flavors are not bad at all, but i don't like the spicy/tangy mouthfeel you get the first few seconds. The roasted flavors are too prominent, leaving no much room for the hops to express themselves, but not bad. Overall, a good beer.

Fules (1465) - Gyöngyös, HUNGARY - NOV 13, 2017
Kicsi, de örökké tartó bézs hab, barnás árnyalatú fekete szín. Illata csokis, fűszeres. Csokis, fűszeres, enyhén gyógynövényes ízek. Közepesen testes, enyhén szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Korrekt, könnyen iható, semmi extra.
