Heeding a chorus of voices crying for a dark roasty thing with lots of west coast hops and a higher ABV, we summoned Netherworld from the chaotic flipside of the brewhouse where hybrid is the norm and nothing is ordinary. Hovering just this side of evil, in the right hands, our «Cascadian Dark Ale» is bizarrely nice with its own entrancing mojo. However, watch out for those who refuse to see the darkness.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 355ml bottle (Alus Celle, Riga) (6:4:5:2:10=2.7)
Deeply roasted malts, some spicy hops too, but kinda messy. Very dark, brief head settles to a ring. Messy herbal rye and nettle porridge taste. Harsh palate. Harsh finish. Acrid. Very messy beer, fails to be either stout or IPA, and isn’t anywhere in between the two. Irrelevant you say, but this is also nowhere near the black IPAs that I like that are in the neither/nor zone. What is it? Don’t care, just know my temptation to buy it again is zero.

Bottle from de Caigny in Essen, Belgium. The beer is very dark brown to black colored and has a creamy-cappuccino foam, with nice carbonation. The aroma is roasted malts, caramel, dried fruits, cacao, coffee and some fresh hops (citrus, pine and grass) in the background. The taste is medium to full bodied with roasted malts, dried fruits and in the background a nice hoppiness with pines, fruits and dark chocolate. The finish is dry, bitter and has notes of coffee and chocolate.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2017 Tap at Craft Room. Daaark clear brown, nearly black, lasting creamy beige head. Aroma... Peach, raisins, malt, yup, a bit older it would appear. Nice, subtle taste, piney amd lemon-lime hoppiness and tea mixing with a chocolatey malty background, dry and lean. Not too much bitterness, pretty well integrated really, does pile up pleasantly in the aftertaste though. Unsurprisingly for hoppy beers that make it here over the pond, not really fresh, but it doesn?t detract here that much. A very good beer that grows on you, likely excellent fresh.
