"Holy Hop, Batman, this beer has aroma." Hops are casted nine different times, its a breath-deep-and-shudder-with-pleasure kind of scent thats all from the Citra hops. With a high alpha acid of 11%, Citra has a cacauphony of flavours and aromas --Citrus, passion fruit, grapefruit, lime, melon, lychee fruit, pineapple, mango, and papaya and dominates this beer.

Smashbombs olfactory tropical explosion shockwaves your face every time you lift the meringue foam towards you. Its like the ecru-coloured top of a beer pie before it gives up and grips the glass. You can see the Victory malts signature in the amber lights in what is primarily a deep golden beer. And, yes, dont be fooled --theres malt going on here, too, as youll see in the firey body of this ale that makes Smashbomb Atomic look like it radiates its own energy.

With the first taste, Smashbombs 70 IBUs are pronounced. This brew is a little bitter, but bitter like a grapefruit with three tablespoons of sugar on top. Its also incredibly drinkable. The oddity thatll keep you tipping the glass is that as this citrus peel front subsides, you actually gleen the sweet flavours of the Victory and Crystal malts. Then, as the bread-puddin bicuity sweetness of the malts are chased by the dry, tropical flavour of Citra and the fruit punch bouquet is all in your face with each sip, its all is so damn intriguing, youll be driven to keep on sampling...and sampling.

Big looking IPA, with a gorgeous blood orange body, wearing a crown consisting of a big frothy white head. Aromas and tastes are of citrus, grapefruit bitterness, and orange peel. Maybe some pepper on the swallow too. A delicious IPA that I wouldnt hesitate to buy again.

Es una IPA que se supone que est bien, pero el gusto que deja no me acaba de convencer. Es ligera, con bastante gas. Le hecho en falta un poco ms de sabor a lpulo.

Amber colour, big head that fades leaving ring and lace. Aroma of resines, fruits, chocolate, caramel. Medium body, good carbonation. Taste of caramel, chocolate, resines, herbs, fruits, citrus. Not so bitter as one can expect, good balance between the sourness and the sweetness.

IPA does not get any better than this. Good balance of malt and hops, not overly bitter. I could drink this all day.

Smell: grapefruit, citrus peel, caramel, bit of funk when swirled in the glass. Taste: starts sweet, orange rind, soft carbonation, hint of melon. Finish: pine resin bitterness takes over and finishes very dry. (bottled 03/20/16, tasted 04/17/16)

Deep copper and bronze coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of hop pellets, yeast, bread, malt, biscuits and a bit of caramel sweetness - quite strong. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and floral hops up front with a deep resinous and earthy mouthful a few seconds later with some sweetness from fruit and caramel behind and a good, well-structured maltiness at the tail end. Aftertaste shows a lot of caramel and deep sweetness, some fruits, but the hops are most evident - not in the PNW type of way, just a herbal and grassy flavour with some bitterness and a pellet flavour not a full hop leaf. Overall, a decent IPA with some good flavours, but a bit of the caramel sweetness outweighs the IPA characteristics, along with the pellet feel in the first place. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchants in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,39 sampled at home in Washington on 13-June-2016.
