At In De Verzekering Tagen De Grote Dorst bottle 1348 of 1400 year-2009. Pours as clear light amber color with a small ring. The smell is mild apple, funk, tart citrus. The taste is, tart citrus, apple, funk ending lightly sour and astringent. Light in body with fine, light, tickling carbonation. A real treat.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 Bottle at the Grote Dorst. Pours a blond-copper with some sediment and a thick white head and sick lacing. Dusty aroma, attic feeling, some cheese and barnyard. You can feel there is age, but there is no sign of oxidation. Taste is very lemony and citric. Somewhat puckering, highly addictive. Some leather and hay. Palate is perfect, well carbed and dry. One of the best lambic of our trip, a little short from 3 Fonteinen 2001s. 4.4. Re-rate: Tried another bottle. Very, this one is brighter (no dust) and there is intense puckering lemon. Slightly better.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Noams office. Thanks DSG. 2009 bottle. Amber, hazy, some floaties and white wave. Rotten oranges, dish soap aroma and a very sour taste. Astringent, fulfilling, not carbonated.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2014 Several bottles (750 ml) @ In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst and at the WE of the spontaneous fermentation. Slightly hazy bright golden with a medium bubbly white head and little lacing. Aroma is mineral with nice funk, peppermint and barnyard along hay, earthy notes and lemony notes. Taste is moderately sour with nice barnyard, funk and hay along mineral/earthy notes, light caramel and lemony notes. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. Superb gueuze! Great balance. Strong, but not too heavy. Really complex. Quenching. I loved it. EDITED: I was lucky emough to try this one 5 times in April/May 2014. Theres an important bottle variation as some are darker and less carbonated while others are lighter and perfectly carbonation. The bottles that are more carbonated developped and amazing peppermint aroma/taste and definitely have more complexity. All the bottles I have tried (including the almost flat ones) were at least worth 3.9/5, but we you get a bottle that is perfectly carbonated, this is one of the best gueuze out there.
