Experience: Guaranteed to deliver an unspoken zen with a spatula in your other hand... The ultimate suburban brew, Backyahd is an aggressively hopped American IPA with a tantalizing hop aroma. The beers bitterness pairs perfectly with spicy foods coming straight off the grill. Enjoy it with friends, family, or whomever you choose. After all, its your Backyahd.

5 oz. taster @ R.I. Brewfest 2 Feb 2013. Citrus fruit and grassy hops on the nose. Light-medium in body. Citrusy hops dominate the flavor with a biscuit malt that provides good balance. Finish is lightly dry and hoppy. Something in the flavor reminds me of an English IPA. More in the lines of a classic IPA, not a hop bomb which is what I like most about it. Worth a try for sure.

With a nice refreshing hoppy scent, this beer provides a consistent long lasting taste that is true to the IPA style. It does not have a long lasting bitter taste like many IPAs, which is awesome.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2016 12 oz can from Beer store in Wickford, RI. The ale poured to light Amber color with a frothy head and lacing. Citrus aroma greets you. This is crisp tasting IPA with plenty of grapefruit and orange pith. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. Nice hop bitterness settles in the back of the mouth. The finish has lingering bitterness on the tongue. Reevaluated: I saved some hoping for improvement. The hop bitterness is metallic and astringent.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Trader Joes. Aroma is faint herbs and citrus, cracker/bread. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with decent sparkle, finger-width white head with poor retention and trace lacing. Taste is citrus with light cracker malt backbone. Palate is medium bodied with foamy carbonated texture, dry finish. Overall, this isnt much of anything. Pretty weak all around. If you had a friend who swore they hated IPAs, give them this--theres no way they could be offended.

Backyard IPA has an extremely exuberant, overly foamy, slightly off-white head, an orange-gold appearance, with lots of medium and powdery tan-gray sediment, and heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of a bit of sweet & sour sauce, apricot, and sourdough bread. Taste is similar, with a rather low level of bitterness. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Backyahd IPA finishes dry and drinkable. This comes across as more of a pale ale than an India pale ale. RJT

Straw color, hazy, explosive and forever lasting head. Medium body, assertive flavor, moderate heat, long palate. Very bitter and dry. Aggressively hoppy, grapefruity, herbal, Shows hops nicely but I wish there was more malt. Perhaps with rich food would be just right. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Hazy deep gold with a frothy white head. Light aroma of toasted grain, raw grain and resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of caramel, floral hops and raw grain. Light on the hops for an "aggressively hopped American IPA."

Beer of month club. Pours from can a light amber color, slight haze. Nose has a soapy, citrus, floral quality. Taste of some citrus and their are good - but doesn't really taste like an IPA. Eh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the PVD (Warwick) Sheraton bar. Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. Weak aroma, mostly metallic but theres a little citrus and straw in there. Taste is mostly just bitter with a little earth. Not horrible but I wont be having another.

On tap. Pale yellow pour with a white head. Bland hop bouquet. Taste follows suit. I mean its like a bitter Pilsner. Not much here man. Below average body and mouthfeel.
