2009 bottle thanks to kp: pours an oily opaque with a thin beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel and chocolate malty nose with some vanilla bourbon oak and a hint of tart fruits. Starts with pretty good fullness with sweet dark malts and nice bourbon complexity before a drier dark chocolatey finish with a hint of tartness. Pretty well balanced and seems to have aged alright. madvike (3264) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle in GTMW line - Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is caramel, bourbon, butterscotch, and dark sweet malt. Taste is malty and sweet with cherries, ashy roast, and a milky finish with some sweet cane sugar. Slick and thick in the mouth. Really tasty. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle shared at GTMW line, very nice! Pours black with a thick brown head and lacing, the aroma is really sweet but has a ton of chocolate, fudge and vanilla all together, some of the oak and bourbon comes through as well, the flavor has a ton of chocolate and vanilla, the bourbon really shows as well but it’s really smooth and well done, really good stuff, enjoyed this a ton. Bottle @ home ... from jarvit ...It pours pitch black with a small creamy tan head.... The aroma is bourbon, coffee, oak and strong licorice.... The flavor is roasted malt, bourbon, coffee, vanilla, oak and chocolate..... AdamChandler (5052) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Midnight black, alcohol legs, minimal head. Smells amazing. Incredibly sweet. Loads of vanilla and brown sugar with cane sugar. Very decadent like a chocolate mousse pie. Taste is extremely sweet. Muted bitterness, very little booze. Vanilla is prevalent with tons of smoky charred oak. Very nice but not as bourbon heavy as I expected.

Sampled at the Raleigh Rare and Vintage Festival 2013. Now this was very delicious. Clear very dark brown pour with no percievable head. Sweet bourbon and boozy vanilla notes compliment the woodiness quite nicely. This is a perfect example of how barrel aging is suppose to be done! mikem409 (2027) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - FEB 17, 2013
bottle. pours lack with gorgeous tan head. big wood, sweet chocolate aroma. taste is medium body, lots of bourbon but not boozy, lots of burnt sugar and caramel too. JStax (6509) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Pours a dark black with a tan head of foam. Aroma is boozy with notes of graham crackers, and chocolate. Taste is sweet and a bit hot at the end. Very tasty stuff. Rrauth (1196) - North Carolina, USA - JAN 26, 2013

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2013 22 oz. bottle, sent from Pabobcat (thanks a lot, David), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is very complex, with moderate bourbon, cocoa nibs, an vanilla - the bourbon quality is what amplifies the complexity. Flavour is extremely complex, with lush, deep bourbon barrels from the Pappy Van Winkle barrels, cocoa nibs, a touch of vanilla, an low-to-moderate sweetness. Quite rich and deep, with extremely high complexity. Fairly medium bodied for a big BA impie stout, though very full flavoured - could use some more body but that is a very minor complaint. Really reminds of Goose Island Rare BCS, as that’s the only other Pappy barrel stout I’ve had thus far, though this one isn’t as complex. A most fantastic, highly complex sipper.
