Big bourbon up front actually calms into the porter chocolates and mild coffee. Seems like the bourbon is going to be over-powering on the nose but it's actually very well balanced.

Bottle. This is a perfectly balanced porter with lots of layers and roasting to keep you thinking. patnichols (8) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 19, 2017 does not count
<6% and solid beer. Good go to brew. Thin palate though. A big notch below port city.

On draft at the Hub City Brew Fest in Spartanburg SC. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Bourbon flavor comes through just strong enough. Very delicious porter.

Black pour with a thin off white head and light lacing .... Aroma of chocolate, toffee, light vanilla and roasted malts .... Taste is of caramel, toffee, chocolate, roasted and light vanilla ..... Bourbon is light if non existent ... Light bitter bite on the back end .... Has lingering caramel, toffee and roasted malts .... Not as good as expected but solid aracauna (3606) - Georgia, USA - JUN 26, 2016
The bourbon barrel overwhelms all other aspects of the beer. This is basically any porter barrel aged.

Tap. The look is a nice tan head, black in color, dark look. The smell is whiskey, wood, vanilla, tannins, nuanced, good. The taste is much the same, more roasty notes, more chocolate, richer. Good beer. rdixon77 (2832) - Georgia, USA - APR 16, 2016
Nice barrel aged porter. Dark brown color with khaki head. Nice mellow bourbon presence that works with a chocolate and brown sugar and caramel body. Medium bodied which is nice for a BA beer. Good stuff. hman43 (1588) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - APR 10, 2016
It pours dark brown with a tan head. It has aromas of chocolate, nuts, and bourbon. Taste is bittersweet with moderate notes of bourbon combined with chocolate and flavors of nuts. It has a medium body and some alcohol warming. ordybill (1758) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - APR 8, 2016
Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown to near black color with a large tan colored head. The aroma is full of sweet malt, cocoa and a hint of whiskey. The taste is heavy on sweet malt and caramel. A very enjoyable porter. Bacterial (2999) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - MAR 2, 2016
Draft at ChurchKey in DC. Nice dark black pour. Nice malt, nice bourbon, mellow malty character. Easy to drink and almost delicate. Light mouthfeel, low ABV.
