Had this one on-tap at the brewpub. Light ruby edges make this one just less-than-black. A nice small cap of foam on top leaves perfect sip rings on the glass edge. Excellent nose bursting with notes of pine scent, citrus, fresh crushed hop pellets. Great inviting hoppy scent!
Good body. Not too thick, easy to drink. Moderate carbonation. Well-balanced. Juicy, flavorful hops make up the bulk of this one. Nice bitter pop to it, but great citrusy flavor. Some mild cocoa-like sweetness noted, a little dry character on the finish. A good dark bitter beer. I like this one better than their standard IPA I think. Nice work retooling this one, Foothills.
OK, so anything from a bottle called frostbite should be white? Well, no, this is big and black but large and in charge. Smells like IPA fer sure, tastes like IPA fer sher and it feels like IPA; ferrrr sherrrrerr. If my eyes were shut I would think this is just another potent IPA. But they’re not and I see a big black beer that is insulting my cheap pale lager taste buds wwheww louie louie louie louwoahwwww. Terribly on style and I may say it treads into imperial IPA territory. If you like IPA, try this and do not care about my numbers, whew. Big ass volatile brew. Seems like much more than 7%. Some hidden carbonation cutting thru in the end. solidfunk (8943) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAY 3, 2017

11/20/16. On tap at Craft on Draft. Almost black pour under a nice tan head. Mild aroma, roasted malts and caramel, hint of pine and citrus. Good flavor, nice balance, not too bitter, chill roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, citrus and floral aspects, some pine, some dank. Tasty! SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - MAR 18, 2017

Pours cola brown with lasting just off white head and lace. Aroma is roasted malts with a pine hop that reminds me of creosote. Taste is of roasted malts, a bit of coffee and chocolate but the finish is a bright pine hop. Interesting. Westchesterco (2043) - mclean, Virginia, USA - DEC 2, 2016

Solid but unremarkable black IPA. Malty and toasty with mild piney notes. Drinkable, fine. Doofgoblin (513) - Chevy Chase, Washington DC, USA - NOV 19, 2016
Meh. It’s fine. Aroma is some faint hops and not as much toasty malt goodness as you’d expect. Taste is much lighter than I thought with a strong bitter finish. The sting of the hops is there but the dark malt seems to be more color than flavor. It’s fine just not that memorable.
