2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This was a little thin in the glass for me. Again I’m always comparing to favourites but it was just ok for me. I picked up on the chocolate and toffee back ground tastes which was a positive but a major negative for me on this one was that it made me feel completely bloated which would mean I wouldn’t drink it again. other stouts I’ve had don’t do this to me

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft @ Norfolk Tap Room. Faint roasty aroma. Dark color with maybe a slight ruby hue, thin beige head with slight lacing. Bittersweet chocolate notes at first with a little roast, followed by a little sweetness. Med body, appropriate for porter. Overall, a very nice porter.

Pretty standard porter, drinkable, but I can no longer come up with coherent new things to say about porters. Bottle from Bob. Thanks Bob!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Bob. It pours very dark brown with a nice tan head. The aroma is pretty rich with cocoa, coffee and hard roasted malt. The flavor is bitter dark chocolate, toast and coffee. It has a balanced bitter, roasted finish. Rich, full body with a touch of English yeast to go with the strong American malt and hop profile.

Poured from bottle.
Aroma of chocolate ice cream.
Appearance is stout black with lacing.
Tasting cocoa, cola, licorice, coffee/toffee, caramel. a trace of hops.
Palate is fairly balanced, a bit sour at the end. .
Overall, a good choice for porter. Try the barrel aged one if you can.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle from singles shelf of Harris Teeter.
Date must have rubbed off.
A: Rough pour yields an inch of tan head atop a practically black body. Very good retention and streaks of lace.
S: Herbal/floral hops against brown toasted bread and a slight hint of roast.
T: Bitter chocolate dominates. Light sweetness rounds out the flavor. Faint raisin.
M: Smooth and slick with a good bit of carbonation. Bitter resin finish.
O: Nice easy drinking porter. Good taste and body. Available and well priced. Recommended.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, with a big black pour. In this description it says ruby red but let me tell you, its big and black. First taste is perhaps a little too much personality, then it starts to grow on you. Yes, gets a little more friendly with its burnt dark beer attitude. Malty, perhaps some aspects of super dark bitter chocolate. Perhaps even a tad of black strong coffee but you couldn’t say its a coffee beer. Yes, in the end a]its a pretty even handed porter that never really treads into baltic porter territory, just a good even handed porter that wants to kick you in the ass and be large and in charge but never quite gets there. Even handed and enjoyable.
