Tap at Sedona. Pours black, looks thick, brown head. Absolutely wonderful aroma of smoked peat, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is on par with the nose. Damn. Smoked peat, chocolate, sweet caramel, light fruity notes. The peat lingers throughout which is nice, and there’s little bitterness. This is one of the best beers I’ve had in awhile, and I just tried two others that were outstanding. Damn. DocLock (10970) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 19, 2007
Huge thanks to Ty5592 for a hand bottle of this via Mystery Swap 2.0. JEt black pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma of roasty dark malt, some rauchy notes, big chocolate syrup, molasses, and some hops. Tastes rich and roasty malty, with a big chocolate syrup flavor coupled with molasses, some nuts, some hops, and some prune. Dense, complex palate. This one is outstanding! Growler thanks to BleacherBum sampled on 3/14/07: Pours a viscous dark mahogany, nearly opaque with a thin wispy dark tan head. Sweet dark caramel and chocolatey aroma has some dark fruity notes and earthy molten chocolate with a touch of fresh piny American hops. Body starts very full, sweet, dark caramely and with lots of sweet milk chocolate, oatmeal and some lingering, drier roasty notes toward the finish. Very nicely balanced and complex, a great imperial stout! 00cobraR (1103) - Greensboro, North Carolina, USA - SEP 24, 2007
Very nice! Pours out a deep black color with a small dark brown head. Aroma is very malty and full of chocolate. This brew is big on flavor. A big choco smack right in the beginning and the flavor fades to a malty coffee flavor on the finish. Damn fine brew and something i have been on a mission to try for quite some time!

Black chocolate pour with a huge thick creamy tan-brown head. It has an immediate coating of lacing when you move the glass. Smells of rich malt and bitter sweet dark chocolate. Not at all similar to that chocolate donut beer generic smell at all. Flavor is rich and is full of that great dark bitter chocolate. I can actually taste and savor the chocolate and it isn’t generic or chemical tasting at all. Flavor is full of real cocoa. Best presence of chocolate in a beer yet, and it isn’t overdone at all. Nice thick palate and ideal weight and smoothness. Mouthfeel gets thicker as you drink it. Very creamy and drinkable. This is the least alcohol I’ve tasted in an Imperial Stout in a long time. The alcohol is so well balanced and masked. Overall, I can’t wait to have another! Best Valentine’s Day beer ever!
Rating #300. Big thanks to The Real Bastard. Pours an awesome opaque dark brown with a beautiful pancake colored head, once coaxed a bit. Nose is, of course, chocolate, espresso and leather. Not just chocolate, but a See’s chocolate hard sucker. Flavor is really complex with a plum like sweetness, dry, smokey maltiness, subtle bitterness of coffee, and semi sweetness of dark chocolate. This was truly an experience worth hunting down.
