Opaque in color with a finger sized dark brown head that holds it’s shape well. Smells of black molassas and chocolate. The flavor is of rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, molassas and licorice. Thick mouthfeel but silky smooth. This is only the second beer that stained the glass after it was empty. The other being Dark Lord. Way to easy to drink as the abv is not noticable. Had on-tap at the release.
Tap at Sedona. Pours black, looks thick, brown head. Absolutely wonderful aroma of smoked peat, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is on par with the nose. Damn. Smoked peat, chocolate, sweet caramel, light fruity notes. The peat lingers throughout which is nice, and there’s little bitterness. This is one of the best beers I’ve had in awhile, and I just tried two others that were outstanding. Damn. unclefrito62 (276) - Stow, Ohio, USA - JUN 10, 2017

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2017 Good smell of roasted malt and fruit with good complexity...more bitter than I would like...retains throughout... complexity there but overwhelmed by bitterness..would be much better if not so bitter...heavy liquorice as it warms...with light cherry cough syrup... VERY rough when warm italianjohn (3133) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 6, 2017

Pours black with a tan head. The aroma has lots of chocolate, roasted malt, slight coffee and vanilla. Taste follows, with big milk chocolate dominating, mild coffee, and some mild caramel beneath. Long, slightly bitter finish. As far as chocolate imperial stouts go, this one is up there! Very nice

22oz bottle pours inky black brown with two finger tan head. Nose and taste have big licorice, molasses, dusty dark bitter cocoa, baker’s chocolate, not very sweet, dark fruity finish with nice mouthfeel and some dryness on the finish. Solid. Not worth $18 22oz though. Luvystypotables (1960) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - MAR 9, 2017

On tap at the brewpub. Everything about this beer screams roasted chocolate - drinks really easily for a 10% abv. Lives up to the hype.
