Our Copperhead Ale is a copper colored German-style Altbier, with a light, malty sweetness and a pronounced hop flavor. Alt is the German word for old, referring to the older style of ale brewing. Altbier is Germanys pale ale. Copperhead Ale is top-fermented, making it an ale and it has a medium body. It has hints of maltiness and hoppiness in its aroma, with a definite hop flavor and a medium hop bitterness. Altbier is predominately brewed in the northern part of Germany, especially Dusseldorf and gets its "sweet roast" flavor and copper color from caramunich malts.

BOD 4/3/15. Pours a clear copper. Normal head volume, lacing and retention. Very light nose of biscuit with a hint of caramel and toasted grain. Light body with a texture slightly heavier than water. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent middle and a finely bubbled prickly finish. The flavor profile is rather weak. You get some toasted grain, very little biscuit and a mere hint of caramel. The middle has a mild bitterness. The finish is a slow bitter fade.

4.7%ABV. Amber Ale. This was my 2nd tap in a Rams Head Tavern and it was anything but sophomoric. It tapped out at a deep amber color 8-10SRM with a respectable head of foamy white bubbles. Nose is full bodied and whispered well-roasted quality malts. The palate had light carbonation giving it a light mouthfeel which was clean and light without being watery. Aroma and flavor was just mainly about the full bodied toasted malt flavor hinting at dark toast and toasted vanilla granola oatmeal. Nice finish of clean bitter hops. Goes on Favorites List
