COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Copperhead Ale is a copper colored German-style Altbier, with a light, malty sweetness and a pronounced hop flavor. Alt is the German word for old, referring to the older style of ale brewing. Altbier is Germany’s pale ale. Copperhead Ale is top-fermented, making it an ale and it has a medium body. It has hints of maltiness and hoppiness in its aroma, with a definite hop flavor and a medium hop bitterness. Altbier is predominately brewed in the northern part of Germany, especially Dusseldorf and gets its "sweet roast" flavor and copper color from caramunich malts.

Thanks to Adrian for a bottle of this Dover, Delaware micro. Rich, amber color with a full, malty aroma. There is a nice drawing of a peacock on the label. The taste is fully hopped, with a sharp bitterness coming thru most clearly. It is not as "balanced" as the label claims, in my opinion. The hops come out ahead, and if that is your pleasure, you will like this. It is dry and fizzy on the palate. It might go well with strong foods like chili or lamb.

From a bottle poured an amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice light hoopy/malty flavor with a quick finish.

pours out a beautiful copper color. I thought this was going to be an amber, but i was wrong. Aroma was ok. was kind of bready with a mix of hops to it. flavor was similar. This was a fair beer and was rather refreshing.

kidmartinek (5001) - austin, Texas, USA - MAY 21, 2008
Pours amber with a quickly disappearing head. Light, clean, balanced malt and hop aroma with a little bready smell. Average lacing. Flavor is grainy and really bitter. Mouthfeel is thin and a little harsh. Finish has a smal bite and is quit malty.

MaltDawg (1344) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 16, 2008
Sampler off taps at Dominion Brewpub 05/10/2008. Clear nice coppery red. Aroma of some munich style malts and a bit of spicey hops. Sweet light malt flavor with a touch of fruityness. Spicey hop flavor and bitterness to lend support. Moderate bitterness in the finish.

Magjayran (1378) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 14, 2008
bad. Fizzy and watery with a harsh flavorless bitterness at the finish. I feel like it’s stripping enamel from my teeth with badness.

maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 12, 2008
On tap at the Dominion Brewpub. Clear copper amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Grain and slight munich aroma. Munich flavor with some light grain. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

jefcon (1911) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Clear copper in color with a mild, sweet aroma of caramel malt, candy sugar, and bitter hops. Drinkable, and not too light on the palate. Still, it’s a kinda thin beer with little finish and no depth.

newbrewguy (145) - Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Draft - Pours a nice copper reddish color, with only a slight head. Had a sweet malt aroma. Light sweet malt flavor with slight hop notes. Not a bad lighter style beer.

Bottle, dark amber color. Smells like malt. Taste of malts and small amount of hops. Just to watery... not much going on here.
