Very deep brown appearance with a small, tan head and modest lacing. Aroma starts out a bit chocolatey and finishes on notes of roasted malts. Some dark fruits ntermingle with the earthy flavors of brown bread and the sweetness of the toffee, caramel and brown sugar. Full bodied mouthfeel, subtly hopped, with little carbonation. Lingering finish remains sweet. Well constructed and solidly made. Capa (3330) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - JUL 26, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2006 On tap in July! Lucked out and stopped in on the right day while passing through Annapolis. Was reddish brown in color with a small tan head. Aroma of malts and spices, as well as some caramel. Flavor was nice and spicey which masked the 8.6%. Also tasted malts and light sweetness. A very nice dopplebock, might have to make my way back in the winter to have another. SSSteve (4006) - - MAR 4, 2010
12oz bottle. deep brown with ruby highlights under small tan head. sweet, dark chocolate, raisins, riesen candy aroma. flavor is spot on with lots of dark flavors and an oily palate. medium bodied. 8% packs a punch without being noticeable in the flavor. at 4 bucks a 4 pack = best deal in town. nuplastikk (6366) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 8, 2010
12oz bottle. Deep black-brown color, with a thin beige head. Mellow chocolate aroma. Rich and sweet, some chocolate and brown sugar notes. Mellow soft carbonation and hop balance is excellent. Certainly leans a little in too the deep, roasty, chocolate malt side of the Doppelbock, rather than the pungent yeast tones from a good German version. An excellent beer nonetheless, certainly above par for your Stateside Doppelbock. ads135 (4863) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Sweet, brown sugar flavor. Caramel nose. Medium bodied. Dark amber brown appearance and cloudy. Tried with the parents in London in 2012.

On draft at the Ram's Head's Christmas in July extravaganza. Wow, is this good. Nicely malty, with chocolate and caramel, but none of the stewed fruit that I hate in a doppelbock. Rich, but not overly so, reminiscent of DeGroen's, a bit richer than Troegs. r464 (2362) - Earth, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Dark brown in color with a tannish head. Malty with a caramel like flavor that is just a touch sweet. Full bodied with a nice finish. Very nice. rlgk (18851) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 13, 2012
