Bottle from the source: pours deep and slightly hazed gold with a white head. Aroma is light tree, but so much of the aroma is must and basement funk. Taste is also funky in this filthy and dirty way. Some light sweetness. Subtle but sharp tanginess. The sort of fruitiness you would find in a strange foreign soda. Complex. Interesting. Enticing. Loud yet delicate.

Bottle dated May 21, 2014. Aroma is fruity with a lot of stone fruit, pineapple, tropical fruit and light citrus. Light white wine notes and oak tannins. Medium light phenolic notes. Pours a hazy, bright, copper color with a medium large, moderately thick, white head that slowly recedes. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly acidic with some light grain notes and sweetness. Medium pineapple and stone fruit notes with a bit of cherry. Some white wine and grape notes with a bit of oak tannins. Medium bitterness with some moderate phenolic notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice Saison. Nice barrel and wine notes with good yeast character. Phenolics are nice as is the citrus character. I guess the phenolics are slightly medicinal but its very faint.

TimE (5372) - Tokyo, JAPAN - SEP 5, 2015
Hazy light amber golden color. The nose is pronounced with lots of sourness funk, oak, oranges and brett going on. Much tarter than expected. Very sharp, high adicity, with white wine blending nicely. The oak dominates perhaps a bit too much and has some tannins at the end from the oak. Decent beer, but not a saison.

Pours a hazy amber/orange with a medium white head. Aroma has earthy funkiness with a hint of malt sweetness.. slightly tart and grapefruity. Flavor has nice funkiness with notes of earthy oak, leather and tannins...some wine notes...rindy/grapefruity. Mouthfeel is light and silky with a dry rindy grapefruit/woody/minerally finish. Tasty!

Bottle (Apr 2015 bottling). Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of sour apple, lemon zest, oak, with light notes of celery, lavender, butter. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent. A neat beer thats close to being really good....the nose is a mix of nice things and a few fleeting unpleasant things, but the nice stuff mostly wins. Nice flavor balance too. Doesnt rock me, but its pretty solid.

3fourths (9264) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 13, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2015 500ml bottle April 2015 batch. Hazy amber-pink-gold body with a thin white head. Aroma is wine barrel essence / fruitiness, oak, phenols, dog hair, alcohol(?), acetone(?), flowers, wild yeast, stewed peach. Medium bodied, lightly sweet, highly acidic, tart, prickly, mildly fruity / estery (peach / nectarine), tannic. Carbonation is fluffy and soft but the sharp acidity in the mouth seems overdone. Its not bad for wine barrel Belgian-ish beer, though doesnt have a lot of depth, and acidic beer doesnt go far for me these days.
