First Impression: Aroma is nice, malty, syrupy, and dark. Visuals are absolutely black opaque body under a tan head that thins quickly. Taste is chocolate, coffee, malt, and roasty goodness. Delicious. Palate is thin, wet, and sweet. Finish is short lived and simply bitter. Second Impression - not a great beer, not overwhelming, but not bad. There are better beers for less per ounce than this one, but it was a fairly enjoyable experience.

On tap at brewery. Pours a black with a thin tan head. smells like roasted barley, coffee and cocca. Tastes like extra strong cocca and coffee like with a sweet and bitter after taste. On nitro it tastes like extra strong guiness. brewblackhole (1588) - Muskego, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 12, 2008
Roasted malt, Chocolate, and a definite vegetal aroma, also a little copper metal, taste is delightful chocolate cake batter, almost sweet with slight bitter aftertaste. chocolate impression last s for about three sips then its pretty much all bitterness ansermadide (1526) - Kyle, Texas, USA - JUN 7, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2008 (Sample from June 7, 2008 Beer Club Meeting) Solid black with a dark amber tint. Beautiful brown head. Smell of coffee bean/cocoa. The flavor is light... easy to drink for such a dark and flavorful drink. Light body... love the sensations in the back of the throat. I’m highly impressed!

(n) Solid black color. nice lasting tan head.
Nose of heavy roasted burnt bittersweet smells. Overroasted coffee and bakers chocolate.
Good flavor, follows the nose- heavy doses of roasted dark malt flavors, bitter chocolate, and some espresso. Bit much alcohol heat for the 8%, but not distracting. Flavors meld well together. A bit overdone on the carbonation, gives it a bit too much of a "zesty" character. Overall pretty good though. tennisjoel (1487) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - MAY 30, 2008

Pour is dark brown with a thin tan head. Chocolate and roast are the primary aromas of this beer with a slight touch of smoke in the background . Simple flavor but enjoyable brew.
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2008 Shared by LawStudent09 and sampled at OSLO/Guerde’s Memorial Day Weekend tasting. From a 22-oz bomber pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that slowly disappears to a fine film and off-white ring. Aroma of toasted dark malts, chocolate and chocolate malt, roasted coffee bean and a touch of smoked wood. Taste is medium to full bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of toasted dark chocolate malt, some floral hops, a touch of coffee bean and some roasted nuts. Finish is semi-sweet, with a toasted dark malt and dark chocolate aftertaste that quickly disappears. blankboy (7808) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 23, 2008
My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of Kevin. Pours black with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and light coffee -- it’s quite roasty! Average bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good. Darkover (1543) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 21, 2008
