I was fortunate to sample this with the brewer at a local FC bar. Good guy and passionate about what he does. Nice cloudy amber color with a little head and not much lacing. Hops and sweet malt with some caramel tones are in the aroma. A little more carbonation than I would have expected and a smooth oily texture. With as many IBU’s as he claimed I wasn’t overwhelmed with bitterness. The malt presence could have been a little sweeter. The alcohol was hidden well.

On tap at Colorado Plus poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, sherry and light fruitiness. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, lots of sweet caramelized sugars with a slight grassy, earthy tone as well. On tap at the brewery. Pour is murky amber with a small tan head and goo lacing. Big caramel, toffee, raisins, figgy, lightly earthy, and bready aroma. Taste is huge caramel, somewhat husky, cereal, prunes, lightl hoppy, and roasty with a slight alcoholic burn on the backend. Medium body with soft carbonation. Meh.

On tap @ Ft. Collins. Murky mahogany pour with an off-white head. Caramel, dates, and maple syrup. Really sweet aroma. Candied orange, some grass, and subtle pine. Heavy on the caramel sweetness. GABF week 2012. On tap at the brewery. Pours with a very lightly hazed amber hued body with a lasting off-white head. Aromas are very green, grassy, floral, caramel, sweet and sticky. On tap at FCB. Reddish brown with an off white head and sticky lacing. The aroma is caramel, dark fruits and toasted malts. Similar flavor with bitter, resinous hops. Full, thick body, creamy and smooth. Pretty good.
