An immense, bold, black as night, american stout beauty; Cavatica is no dry Irish anything. Made in the tradition of terminator, except stronger, one sip and you will surely take notice of what youre drinking. The name honors this brewers affinity with arachnia. Be forewarned, this beer will stain your clothes.

pitch black pour with a brown head from the can. This thing was awful, super bitter with a thick cloying flavor I couldnt place. Never again on this one.

The can is funny but thats pretty much where my fondness ends. Its heavily overcarbonated and despite my best efforts filled the glass with foam. Flavors are leather, cough drops, woody, licorice. Alcohol-heavy almost to the point of medicinal. Cant say Ill seek it out.

Can. This one was overly carbonated for me, as the tan head that poured out took up 2/3 of the glass, and I had to suck it down to keep from spilling. Nose is very roasty and dry, and reminds me a lot of a dry stout. Taste is very dark and quite bitter, with some of the roasting coming through as well. Very dark and a little overwhelming.

12/16/2013. From can. Pours black with a tan head. Nice lacing. Aromas are dark roasted malt, dark fruit, chocolate. Not as bitter or robust as other stouts, but good balance. Nice stout.

Appearance: near black with a thick, creamy beige head; poured from a black can covered with unappetizing pictures of spiders, although the captions were relatively humorous. Aroma: smells nice, with aromas of dark and sweet chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, leather, graham cracker, and coffee. Taste: unpleasantly herbal, almost minty, and unbalanced toward the astringent and hoppy, with a hint of bitter roast underneath. Finish: lingering herbal, piney, green-stick woody hops giving way to a low, medicinal minerality. Notes: Ugh. Nice aroma and good palate, as well a decent appearance (barring the can). The flavors were just off for me. Not a properly-hopped stout. Way too herbal and the bitterness was overpowering.
