500ml bottle from Elizabeth Station. Pours an opaque brown with a dark beige head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, some sweet booziness. Taste is moredaretly sweet with bourbon, leather, vanilla, chocolate, burnt barrel and boozy notes. Amazing!

Amazing Beer. Very smooth beer that appears to be aged in barrels. One of the best beers we've had. Cheers to the brewers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A: Pure black like the Zombie film I am watching. Mocha head. Lacing. N: Rich cocoa, caramel, vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Coffee, peppercorn, and earth. Smoke and ash. More chocolate. Hints of leather and tobacco. Touch of soy. T: Sweet and bitter. Mostly sweet. M: Heavy body, no alcohol, fizzy carbonation. O: Excellent stout. Plenty of flavor with an almost Hair of the Dog quality. Like Putin, actually.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, brownish sparse head. Nice aroma, tar, dark chocolate, some phenol, roasted nuts. Strong body, moderately sweet, the alcohol is very evident; chocolate flavor, rum, truffle, cocoa nibs.
Excellent.

Dark brown. Sweet, vanilla, light chocolate, there’s some nice complexity here. Rich, sweet, has a nice toffee character, blast of alcohol, and with a light vanilla accent.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out smoky whiskey and bourbon barrels, with a little toasted malt. Flavour is heavy, with lots of barrels, bringing out a nice bourbon character, followed by lightly smoky whiskey, and a little roast. Wonderful depth to this. Warming effect on the finish that is rather abrasive, but it’s very lovely.

500 ml bottle. wax dipped. Looks quite nice. Pours a pitch black color with a medium beige head. A big roast and anise nose, licorice, light bourbon. Rich cascades of hot flavorful bourbon, sour mash, roast, dark cherry. The whiskey flavor here is just enormous and lovely. A nice palate. Very big beer. Beastly in fact. Love the bottle size, the price was fair at about 11$. Just great.

On tap @ Chuck’s CD. Pours deep inky black, with a medium mocha head that fades quickly. Aroma is huge bakers chocolate, full soy sauce notes, sweet corn whiskey, oaky dry barrel notes on the finish. Taste is likewise - super rich, big rich umami flavor, plenty of bourbon and barrel notes, thick coating mouthfeel. This hits all the key notes and lacks flaws. Only real opportunity might be to add some coffee next time? Nitpicking. Given Fort George’s track record with stouts, I’m not at all surprised, but still an impressive effort, hope there’s more of this one next year - bottles have been somewhat limited this time.

Chuck’s CD, 3rd Anniversary Party. Lovely tan ring. Dark, pretty black with red edge. Balanced sweet aroma. Alc rich body, good spiciness. Some smooth creamy character. A touch of bitter, cocoa and roast bean. A bit hot, this could lay for awhile. But quite tasty. Nice beer.
