Not a bad black IPA, but more tilts towards mild IPA, with roasted malts in the background for sure. Solid B.

Serving: from can--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles.
Aroma: moderate, pine hop.
Appearance: huge, rocky, light brown initial head with excellent lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Cola-colored body.
Taste: lightly sweet initial flavor and moderately bitter, roasty finish with hint of chocolate.
Palate: medium-to-full body, creamy texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: excellent. Great, lasting aroma. Sheets of lacing. Sweet flavor balances the bitterness of the hops. Nice, smooth palate. Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 14, 2014
Pours black with a thick, foamy tan head. Fruity hop aroma - peach, mango, grapefruit, some pine too, and just a bit of mellow malt sweetness underneath. Flavor is surprisingly multifaceted - peach and mango upfront, then a bit more bitterness comes in, and finishing with moderate roasted malt, pine, and more bitterness. Finishes crisp and dry. Excellent. chuckstout (332) - Washington, USA - OCT 29, 2013
Citrus, orange amd resin. Pours a dark black with mocha colored head and great lacing. Espresso, citrus, light body

On tap at Fort George. Colour...completely black with a thin tan head. Nose...loads of molasses and roasted savoury nuts that meld well with the hops. Palate...bitter, but sweet as well, with more molasses notes and brown sugar syrup. There’s graham cracker and sailor jack on the mid palate and notes of Moravian ginger cookies on the finish. The finish is also lightly bitter and quite long. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 29, 2013
12-oz can. Thanks m! Pours black with a dense and creamy tan head. Lots of lace. Big sweet grapefruit nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Roasty dark ashy mid palate with a bright grapefruity overtone. Great combination. Long crisp finish. Reid (2527) - Salem, Oregon, USA - OCT 13, 2013
16oz can bought from "lifesource" in Salem.
Pours a pretty black black! body with a small yet persistent frothy tan head.
Dank piney, resiny hop aromas..this one smells way more on the hoppy side of the CDA universe!
Paradoxically the flavour is way more balanced with the roasted malt aspect very much to the fore..balances the hops perfectly.
Perfect mouth feel on this one even with all the clashing of flavours it becomes balanced and smooth yet always something to intrigue the taste buds.
A nice CDA..love the palate. pdx76 (651) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 17, 2013
Can- pours out black with thick tan head. Nose is dominated by hop. Taste is mostly hop but not overly hoppy, somewhat boozy. Has a bitter coffee like finish.

From can. Deep dark brown color with an inch thick tan head that lasts. Aroma is pine, citrus, and roasting. Taste is resinous pine and citrus hops with a smooth roasted malt and coffee presence, and a tiny hint of dark chocolate. Retains a good balance between the hoppiness and the roasted maltiness.
