"the descriptors on the label (while i can’t remember word for word) were all over the place. the end result was that they were going for some kind of hoppy fruitcake thing...and it kinda worked. piney, fruity sweet, pineapple weirdness. the 7.5 is nice, not really felt or tasted, but the beer has a good medium-full feel. interesting brew. Bottle. Rich red-brown pour with a good sized cream colored head. Decent retention, minimal lace. Bright caramel malt nose with fruit nuances. The medium sweet flavor is also malt forward supported by a subtle hint of pineapple and orange. Medium body, soft carbonation, thick texture and substantial lemon peel bitter finish. Bottle (January 2012 notes).Colour...mostly clear amber with little head. Nose...very fruity! Smells like Hi-C fruit punch, which I rather enjoyed as a lad. Palate... light CO2, a massive burst of sharp fruitiness then the fruits become more individually apparent! Montmorency cherries, black currants, Brooks prunes, Medjool dates and treacle. Brown sugar is present as is molasses and clover honey. This tastes like a fruitcake in a glass! Complete with candied fruit! On tap at FredFest 2013. Pours reddish copper with an attractive beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a rich caramel malt flavor with a dry bitter finish. Bottle: Deep amber, large frothy off-white head, nice lacing. Stale cherry like flavors on the tongue, a little apple skin. Seems somewhat of a mish mash of stale cherry and apple flavors. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Malty, slightly tart, stale cherry and apple flavors linger. Not an exciting fruit beer, not bad, but seems confused and a little dull.

Growler from draft at Venti’s. Deep ruby-brown, light tan head, good lacing. Smells spicy - clove, cinnamon, spruce. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel. Heavy malt and spice flavor - spruce, cinnamon, nutmeg, maybe allspice. Bottle... Poured deep, darkish red/burgundy with a moderate forming white head. If anything, this beer doesn’t have enough hop spicing and floral balance. Big worty and unbalanced with ale fruit esters, oat and rye spice, and citrus. A little bit of a barf character towards the finish. Rum "inspired" oak? Not so much. Notes of cherries? A little bit. Pineapple? Where? Orange & Lemon Peel? There’s a little rind-like bitterness.
