"Dark pour, nearly black. Low on carbonation, high viscosity. Aroma and flavor are sweet, almost to a fault. Complexities abound, though, from the roasty chocolate beer as well as the three barrels. Pretty boozy, but pretty nice too."

On tap at the Cannon Beach Hdwe. "Screw and Brew". Colour...basically black with a massively thick tan head. Nose...roasty and very chocolatey with cafe au lait and pot de creme au chocolat. Palate...opulent, creamy, velvety and dense with loads of dark Dutch chocolate, tangy bittersweet chocolate, and chocolate cherry cordials with hints of raspberry. Of the barrels represented in this stout, Bourbon seems to be at the forefront with hints of the rum and little of the tequila. The first time I had this stout it seemed quite hot with booze. Over time the booze in this stout has mellowed and the flavours have melded nicely! riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUN 21, 2013
Huge alcohol, dark roasted charred malts, brown sugar, vanilla, tequilla. All are noticeable if paid attention to. Black pour, tannish ring of foam. Big boozey flavors, roasted dark almost burn malts, brown sugar, vanilla, alcohol, more roast and ash. carbonation is soft, body is huge, there is lots of burn. A difficult one for me to finish although I can appreciate the effort. mcberko (18389) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 31, 2013
On tap at Noble Fir, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, a bit of chocolate and some burnt notes – not very inviting. Flavour of slightly sweet chocolate malt, medium roasted malt and dry cocoa. Medium-bodied, with a dry roasty palate. Good stuff, but fairly standard impie stout. Dark black in color, thin tan head. Big cocoa aroma and flavor. Lots of barrel aging happening this was a big huge tasty black beer.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2012 Aroma strong, one of those beers that makes you wonder before you taste it, hard to place. Appearance dark, taste complex, palate good for short term. I tried to drink about 32 oz of it. Maybe it was palate or maybe it was alcohol content but I was loopy by the end of my jar. Good find, intetesting beer, great brewery. Side note: the service was fantastic and knowlegable made me feel like an Astorian again. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 28, 2012
Tap @ Holiday Ale Fest 2012... Poured black with a tan head. Nose had a substantial amount of roast with noticeable wood there too. Tasted of roast with some astringent bitterness. Also lots of spices, spirit alcohol and wood/barrel. Some cinnamon with oak. Like a spiced cocktail. Not bad.
