On tap at Fort George, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma contains a fair amount of earthiness from the mushrooms, along with a roasty coffee note underneath. Flavour is similar, with a rather an earthy mushroomy quality, along with bitter coffee and roasted malt. Not particularly complex - wouldn’t have guessed there were truffles in here if I was blinded, but it seems to work well. Solid.

Draft - Dark chocolate and molasses. Jet black with a light brown head. Lots of dark chocolate and a spicy note. Bitter coffee in the finish.

On tap at the Festival of the Dark Arts - No truffle whatsoever, but a very lovely stout. It’s just, for me, if you call it out, it had better represent.

On draught at Fort George Lovell Taproom. Deep black color. Aroma is chocolate, salt, fungi, and cherry. Taste is chocolate, salt water, sweet mushroom, and pitted fruit. Substantial mouthfeel and great flavors.

On tap at ABV. Pours a jet black color with a small brown head. A big salty roasted malt nose, some fruit. The flavor is dark, bitter chocolate, more salt, dark fruit, a bit of smoke, massive ashy. Milk chocolate as well, quite sweet at times. Lovely beer. Unusual.

On tap at Fort George Lovell Taproom. Colour...completely black! In fact, I think it’s sucking light out of the room! No head. Nose...coffee runnings, dark chocolate, molasses and burnt sugar sirop. Palate...dry, frothy and bitter with heaping mounds of bittersweet chocolate, sappy oak and tannins. There’s a vast array of hoppy bitterness and cocoa mass across the palate though I never really pick up much ’shroom character. Nonetheless this is a grrrreat stout. Cheers to "Chunk"!!

troopie (2594) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - JUL 18, 2013
Draught. Black pour with no head. Light mushroom aroma. Flavour is sweet malt with a unsweetened chocolate note. More mushroom in the finish.

Muddy chocolate body. Nice head. Not much nose. Smooth chocolate and grainy body. Could benefit from some again. Tannic chocolate grain finish.

Pint – Fort George Brewing – Astoria, OR
Aroma – Dark malt with coffee and good hint of Truffle in the aroma.
Appearance – Dark Black in color, Clear, with a thin head.
Flavor – Dark roast malts, coffee, chocolate and a nice addition of truffle in the flavor.
Palate – Dry light mushroom finish with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall – 25 years after a kids classic I was impressed with the tribute to a great movie. I was also extremely happy to try it in the town where the movie was made. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Truffle Shuffle rub my belly..
