3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark, almost brown, amber with medium light tan head. Aroma very strong of malt, nuts, and a bit of tart fruit. Flavor matches, but it quite a bit more nutty and overbearing with malt than I would have hoped for. Finishes dry and bitter.
Tap. Dark red. Full body. Great dry red; good balance of slight caramel character and burnt malt. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - APR 29, 2014
Tap at the brewery. Clear dark red pour with a small head that fades to a thin ring. Aromas are caramel, nuts, chocolate, and red fruit. Taste brings a big fruitiness and toasted nut flavor. Light caramel and chocolate in the background. Finish is actually a little warming which is odd. Very thin and kinda watery. Ok amber. jsquire (4514) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - SEP 23, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Deep amber color with a sticky off white head. Burnt sugar and wet grain nose. This is an odd amber ale with a metallic flavor of pennies, blood and burnt white sugar. Something in here just didn’t work for me. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 15, 2012
reddish color on draft no head and no lacing. sweet malt aroma. and the flavor held true..quite sweet on the malt base and very little hop action i think it was 21ibu...not bad but not for me. Pailhead (6541) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - MAY 26, 2007
On tap:The aroma has some roasted nuttiness with just a hint of fruit. It’s a transparent dark amber with a small beige head. The flavor starts roasty with some light fruit and faint chocolate that leads with a slightly bitter finish.
