3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 5, 2013 Tap: pours a hazy, goldenrod color with a creamy eggshell cap that lasts as long as the sample. Aroma is pretty sweet & fruity, full of somewhat citric & slightly tropical hop aromas. I get the impression of Starburst candy, along with a slightly bitter leafy, herbal, & ashy hop note. Faint toasted malt. Taste is sharp & bitter out of the gate. Herbal leaves, light ash, citrus peels, sharp grapefruit rind, white pepper, finishing with some grassy green hop notes. Quite pungent & fresh, definitely a nice wet hop choice with a lasting, bitter aftertaste.
On tap at brewery. Deep/dark gold. Some Belgian lacing. Interesting hop quality--incredibly piney from the wet hops (grown in Southgate, MI, I believe... so right down the street, essentially). Floral. Good, just a bit of a palate ruiner with IBU.
