Pours a nice clear orange with thick white head. Aroma of citrus hops, slight tart fruit, grass, and pine. Flavor matches well and has a bit of a wheat flavor that normally doesn’t accompany IPAs and is very refreshing. Overall very nice brew that should be a staple when stopping by this brewery.
on draft. poured a darkish mahogany color with little head. hoppy and sweet malt aroma. the flavor for me was more sweet malt than anything else pretty intense medium bodied malt base and some hops. decent enough not to bitter front to back. overall decent enough umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - JUL 3, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear reddish orange color with a nice small foamy head that lingers nicely. Pleasant hoppy aroma of oranges, grapefruit, and light pine. Tastes mildly sweet with a fairly strong bitterness. Fresh citrus/floral hops with some solid caramel and wheat malt backbone too. A little dry in the finish but the hops linger very nicely. Medium body, solid mouthfeel. Overall, really happy they brought this back. A good go-to summer local IPA. Petkus331 (389) - Redford, Michigan, USA - JUL 16, 2010
A taste that is very piny, a bit bitter, and hoppy with a hint of citrus on the end. The nose was a bit disappointing for an IPA, a faint yeastiness with a hint of citrus. Color was a translucent amber. Overall, an ok beer. frylock (1135) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - NOV 2, 2006
On tap at pizza plant: Golden orange with a small white head. Citrusy, apricot aroma. Bitter hops, lots of citrus, some peaches, light pine notes and some balancing malts in the background.

Strong IPA (just the way I like them), this was excellent, probably my favorite from Fort Street Brewery. Also the strongest they offer. Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - AUG 3, 2005
Tap: orangish/amber with decent off-white head, fadse to film. Nice big citrus hop kick up front, decent malt backbone. Very well balanced hop/malt flavor through and through. Nice long bitter hop aftertaste. Nice lacing. Very nice IPA. Hopefully the Piston namesake crossed some of their macro drinkers over. 11026 (1772) - Alabama, USA - JUL 24, 2005
Tap. Red-orange in color with a nice off-white head. Dense head fades to a film and leaves great lacing. Fantastic citric/piney hop aroma. Medium bodied, a bit astringent. Malt and hop balance is nicely maintained. Very nice. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUL 4, 2005
On tap: Aroma has lots of citrus and hops. Transparent orangish-amber with a small white head. Very nice lacing. Sweet and malty up front with a big citrus hop finish. Very citrusy overall. IPFreely (1470) - Sanborn, New York, USA - JUN 27, 2005
Deep amber color, slight haze, beige head. Up front hoppy aroma, light fruitiness lying under. Light fruity malt comes first in the flavor folowed by some bitter hops. Medium bodied, somewhat dry. Pretty nice, probably their best offering.
