A hefeweizen, or German-style wheat ale. Made with 50% malted wheat and a special yeast strain from a brewery in Germany that imparts a subtle banana flavor. Fruity, and yet crisp. So refreshing it's been named the offical beer of summer.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2013 Surprised at the lower reviews for this beer! Definitely one of my favorites (though Ive had different versions of it theyve done for small batches that are amazing... like the time they made it with juniper. Swoon.). Belgian yeast notes, notes of banana. Yeasty, floral nose. Mild head with a golden-amber color. Only served Spring-early Fall; I miss it everytime its gone!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy gold with a slight orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces minimally. Aroma has notes of sweet grains and tapioca with a bit of backing sweet wheat. Flavor has sweet grains and tapioca throughout with a hint of backing light fruit.

Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Golden pastel body with a small white head. Yeasty orange citrus aroma. Fairly sweet, yeasty flavour with notes of orange citrus and a light wheat bite. Average to medium palate. This was quite refreshing and quaffable. Will not knock your socks off but I can see drinking a few pints in the summer. Solid offering. 7/3/7+/3/16

Goodbar gets odd stuff. Light lemon nose w. toasty malt and grass. Lemon/toasty malt with a bit of tea & orange in the finish. Meh.

What we have here is akin to a lighter dunkleweizen. Definitely wheaty, the rye lends some spice to the aromas and flavors. Wheaty, some banana. Refreshing as hell on a 95 degree day like when I had it.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2010 Tap: dark orange with fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy, yeasty wheat. Flavor has lots of spice, pepper/clove. Decent overall. 06 version. dark golden, orange tint, poured w/o head by bartender, but huge head when swirled. Aroma and flavor are dead on hefe. Nice banana and clove combo. Easy drink, well done.

Tap @ brewpub. Cloudy orange with a small head. Taste is rich sweet malts and funky Belgian yeast. Orange flavor dominates this way too sweet beverage.

Tap. Orangish colored with a bit of haziness. Slight weizen aroma, perhaps more wheat influenced than yeast influenced. Lighter bodied. A touch spicey. Fair.

On tap: Spicey citrus aroma. Real cloudy orangish-amber with a white head. Citrusy with a lightly smoke, light rye, light hops, and lots of pepper and spice in the finish.
