Much better than Sweet Repute. A little too boozy but still balanced well overall. Barrel not super evident. Sweet malt and hops come out in this. Cloudy orange pour with good head and lacing. Smells sweet and liquory and finishes the same way. Tap at Founders event at Churchkey. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2014
Bottle sampled at a friends house. Loads of oak, pine, caramel, toffee and citrus. GenDV138 (7579) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAY 10, 2014
Draft at ChurchKey, thanks solidfunk! Pours caramel brown with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, pine, toffee. Tasting notes of caramel, pine, citrus, toffee. Medium body with a dry finish. Light syrupy mouthfeel. Haven’t had this fresh but it seems to have aged nicely. wheresyourball (572) - El Cajon, California, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Bottle to tulip. Pours a clear amber color with off white head. Nose is caramel, alcohol. Light bodied with caramel, maple, wood. Booze is noticeable and the finish is bitter with some burn. Interesting but nowhere as good as Alpine Great or Bourbon County Barleywine. PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAY 4, 2014

Bottle. Heavy roasted and caramel for the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, light leather for the yeast, with notes of wood, dried cherry, maple syrup, lots of dried fruit and a faint spiciness. Head is small, wispy off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear copper, but murky on the last pour. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately to heavily sweet and bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a soft carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. Deep and rich withjust the right amount of sweetness in the Barley Wine. mverity (294) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 22, 2014
Bottle courtesy of @heatwave33. Amber brown in color with hints of deep red. Cream colored head, faded into thin wisps and a craggy medium collar. Aroma is of molasses, earthy burnt wood, tobacco, and some earthy spices. Taste is spiced and tobacco up front, faded earthy hops, woody and a touch boozey at the very end. Nice toffee/molasses flavor running throughout too. Nice full body and low to medium carbonation. djd07 (15342) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 15, 2014
Bottle thanks to Rob. Pours a cloudy brown copper with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong candy sugar, oak, and pine. Medium mouthfeel with sweet candy sugar and sweet finish. Hides alcohol well, very good. msante79 (2225) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - APR 10, 2014
Poured dark amber with off-white head. Aromas of bready malts, caramel, dark fruit, and some bourbon. Flavors of caramel, dark fruit, toffee, bready malt, light bourbon, and some booze. Solid barley wine. superspak (5891) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAR 31, 2014
750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in July 2012. Pours slightly hazy deep orange copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, orange peel, light pine, clove, oak, light bourbon, light vanilla, floral, grass, herbal, and oak/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of deep malt, fruity yeast ester, and moderate oak barrel presence; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, maple, brown sugar, biscuit, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, orange peel, light pine, oak, clove, light vanilla, light bourbon, herbal, floral, grass, and oak/yeast earthiness. Some minimal earthy floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, maple, brown sugar, biscuit, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, orange peel, light pine, oak, clove, light vanilla, light bourbon, herbal, floral, grass, and oak/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of deep malt, fruity yeast ester, and moderate oak barrel flavors; with zero cloying sweetness or booziness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light-moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barelywine. All around great balance and complexity of deep malt, fruity yeast ester, and moderate oak barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
