4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2014 Draft at Founders. Pours a clear amber-orange color with a small bubbly head that lingers a bit. Musky and complex aroma. Getting caramel, bourbon, maple, pine, oranges, and a complex spiciness. Taste is very intense, reminds me of devil dancer. Moderately sweet but the strong bitterness balances. Tons of complex malts and hops come through including everything in the aroma. Full syrupy mouthfeel that is sticky and chewy. Really love this beer. Want to get a couple bottles to age.
Re-rate 5/14/14 - Bottle shared at Jeff’s. Still tastes surprisingly similiar even though it’s 1.5 years old. Huge spicy and onion-like hops, great burnt caramel, light bourbon. Love the intense aroma too. I’m gonna wait at least 2 more years on my last one.
A very strong barleywine. Somehow it disguises the alcohol . I find storing creates a really smooth beer. I waited several Yeats to have it again and it was really much more rounded in flavor.

Bottle hiding in the back of the beer fridge. It poured a dark amber color with a tan head. The aroma was of bready malts, caramel, dark fruits and some bourbon. The taste was similar to the aroma with more caramel, dark fruits, toffee, bready malts, bourbon and some not overwhelming booze. Very tasty. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 12, 2016

750 ml bottle thanks to Adrien and his deep cellar. Very nice deep ruby color, still normal carbonation. Aroma shows a good amount of pine, light floral hints, dark fruit without any oxidation. weihenweizen (4050) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - JAN 30, 2016
The flavor is still bold. Toffee, pine and floral hops in the center still showing some bitterness. Also shows a light metallic hint after the swallow. Body is full with a very sticky texture. Also still has a lot of warming alcohol. I still like this pretty much although it must be a 6 or 7 oz. sample.
Refrigerated 2012 brown bottle poured into a snifter. Hazy Amber with white head. Aroma is caramel malt, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt and some alcohol. Pretty heavy.
