Dull brown/orange pour that’s somewhat occluded. Thin ring of white head. Sweet citrus, woodsy pine and definite hot pepper and smokey peat aromas. Average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, warm finish. Taste blends most of the aromas and more-citrus, Serrano, smokey chipotle that blends well with the charred oaky whiskey barrel taste. Really good pepper beer, probably would not be able to handle more than one of these though. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Tap @ Founders: Muddled, deep shade of amber with barely any head on the pour... Hell, barely even a thin, white ring along the outside of the brew. Aroma is staunch chili pepper spiciness. Some notes of charred wood, perhaps a hint of smoke. No explicit barrel... just peppery heat all around. Wow! Hot, hot, hot! Lots of peppery spice on this one, up front & especially in the aftertaste. Chili pepper spiciness with a mild wood & tannin note in the finish. Lingering spice tickles the throat well into the aftertaste... Long lasting heat. Makes me think of what Mango Magnifico would be like without the mango... Which I clearly prefer. Hot brew, would be tough to drink large amounts, but different & fun to try. pictoman (1212) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 15, 2014
Poured from the tap. Clear pinkish orange. Very spicy aroma, peppers. Has sweet quite spicy hit that dissipates fairly quickly so as not to be overbearing. If you have any trouble with spice, would not recommend because it does have a kick. njager246 (699) - grand rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Aroma of peppers and a little barrel taste is mostly pepper... Very nice and has kick ... Nice ebone1988 (2125) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - FEB 12, 2014
Aroma is peppery, fresh vegetables. Appearance is orange, not much on the head. Taste is fresh peppers, seeds and all, that’s pretty much all I can say. Mouthfeel is spicy but not overwhelming, pretty good carbonation, somewhat thick. Overall, an interesting beer for sure, worth trying.

tap at brewpub 28-oct-2011. Amber with small head. This is probably about my limit for spice. A sampler glass is plenty. pretty substantial heat, can’t taste a whole lot else. badnewsbeers (2312) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 4, 2012
tap at founders. golden amber body with small head. huge pepper and wood. some hints of vanilla. flavor is spicy and sweet, liked a mexican candied pepper. the barrel aging on this one is fantastic cbfobes (2891) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - DEC 21, 2011
On tap at Founders brewpub, pours a clear golden amber, just like the other 2 spites, the aroma really has a good amount of burn to it, same with the flavor, the malt is pretty much hidden by the heat the pepper punches, my wife couldn’t even handle more than a sip, being a person that loves spicey food I loved this stuff. Would be tough to put down an entire pint though. cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Tap @ Founders. Clear, red orange appearance with an off white head. Toffee, caramel, green chili pepper aroma. Moderate to highly spicy, green chili flavor with a caramel maltiness.
