COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Take a sip to have your palate simultaneously walloped and caressed in all the right places. Combined, the hops take the beer to 90 IBUs. It’s not just ridiculous. It’s reDANKulous.

I've been slowly building my flavors to like red IPA beers and this one definitely holds its name. It's redankulous for sure ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great head. Not foaming out. Good nose without being overpowering. Nice malty profile to compensate for the high IBU. Very long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

More certainly an IPA. Not a huge fan - too many hops, too bitter for me, leaves a bad taste behind ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tall tan head with good retention and a cute bit of lace that lasts. Clear amber pour. Nose is metallic firstly, copper and caramel with light piney notes. Body is full, sorta chewy, soft carbo thank christ, touch oily, sweetly. Caramel malts up front with little hop action, some pine resin and sugars. Lips are sticking together, not good! Sweet finish with not enough balancing bitterness for my liking. More of a Barleywine, almost English at that,, than an IIPA. Decent enough i guess but would not purchase again. Weren’t cheap either!

Squat, embossed 12 oz bottle. Terrible label. Clear, tarnished bronze pour, with a big, rocky tan head that sticks to the side of the glass. Aroma is lively and presents a lot of fruit up front - strawberry, pineapple - before sliding back to a sweetish toffee and spicy affair. Prickly and tannic up front, followed by baked strawberry, tea and pine. Lingering citrus pith-bitter finish, with huskiness. Body goes a little flat. Not my cup of tea. ABC Liquors, Bull Run.

Man, what a massive, chewy, hunk of red IPA from Founders. Pours a gorgeous red-orange with a lasting beige head and lace upon lace. Nose mixes a deep caramel vein with bright tropical-citrus hops and tons of dankness, underlined by pine and a faint hint of booze. Taste is pretty damn dreamy, a luscious blend of sweet caramel and toasted biscuit underneath a melange of hop flavors, orange and apricot and berry turning into peppery wood and earth, with an herbal back end accented by a floral flourish. Finishes oh so bitter, yet the fade holds on to a lasting caramel sweetness laced with blueberries and bubblegum. Texture is boisterous enough to support the moderate sweetness, yet the alcohol remains dangerously obscured. Holy cow. This is a great beer.
