4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Fût @ Brass Tap Naples. Brune-noire opaque.
Absolutely Terrific !!! I’m almost tempted to open another one. May not have the chance to age the other three I have.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 A nice dark black color pour with a light brown foamy head. Aroma is nice sweet maple, brown sugar, coffee and a hint of alcohol, smoke, and grain. Flavor is huge roasted coffee molasses, vanilla and maple syrup, with nice bourbon/alcohol flavor, hint of bitterness and the maple sweetness stays on your lips after the sip. Thick smooth body soft carbonation. beerplace (2146) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 9, 2017
A pour from the bottle on Black Christmas V. Release 2017, 750ml bottle. Pours a ve5y dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is coffee with some maple syrup. Taste is similar with more noticeable (but not overwhelming) maple syrup and fruity notes. Nice. stevoj (5636) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 9, 2017
Bottle courtesy of Toby. Dark brown with some light sneaking through. Aroma is the normal RIS aromas with hints of maple. Taste comes on a bit stronger, more of the booze, sweetness, coffee, maple.

Well, I'm sad (as a Canadian) to admit that the addition of maple syrup did little for me on this one. Perhaps it would allow the beer to age better? But at this price, it seems crazy to be banking $25 bottles just to see if that is true. I tasted it alongside the KBS, and found CBS to be too sweet in comparison. And the price... $7 for a 5 oz pour, was far too much for this. A very solid beer, just not as good as the hype (in my opinion). poolboy07 (7) - - DEC 9, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2017 Yummy. Christmas just came early. If Santa got a hold of this, he may not eat any more cookies that were left out for him. Hell, he may just sit on the couch for a while and some kids may not get their presents. This is a sweet , dark, smooth stout with hints of chocolate and coffee. Boom! UPDATED: DEC 9, 2017 5oz snifter at WoB - pours dark black with a thin tan head - smells of coffee, malt, and maple - slight boozy taste maple adds a nice balancing sweetness - lingering chocolate in the palette- If you can get, do so! mallons72 (210) - livonia, Michigan, USA - DEC 9, 2017
Everything KBS is, but sweet, sweet, sweet. Too sweet. The sweetness is seems more sugar than maple syrup. Just not the right fit for my palate.
