Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, alcohol, and maple syrup. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, maple syrup, and roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted and alcoholic finish. Bottle with duct tape label "CBS!!!" courtesy of tarheels86, to whom I owe a debt of gratitude. Almost completely black, very small large bubble edge head, shotty lacing. Aroma of unsweetened chocolate syrup, vanilla beans and cocoa. Taste is sweet, syrupy Hersheys bar with cinnamon, roasted coffee. Very nice. cgarvieuk (25744) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAY 6, 2009

ChrisOs Christmas Tasting. Opaque brown beer. Tidy mid tan head. Softish fluffy palate. Sweetish mid malt, maple. Mild tang. A little coffee. Minerals. Aniseed alcohol. Lacto malt. A little chocolate. Finishes semi dry and milldy warming. Complex but perhaps could do with a little ageing. Great beer though!
Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Skyview/madsberg. Pours an opaque black with a rough beige head. Interesting aroma of sweet roast, coffee and syrup. Solid body, a little low in carbonation, sweet roast and heavy coffee. Boozy finish. Nice alright but hardly a top 12 beer! 220312 Leighton (22056) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 22, 2012
Bottle at my birthday celebration at CBC, London. What a great birthday surprise it was when Bruce pulled this out of his Tesco shopping bag (no, this beer isn’t sold in Tesco). Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Sweet, dark malt nose, some chocolate. Big sweet flavor, dark sugar, chocolate cake, moderate roast. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Restrained warmth on the finish, very sweet and chocolatey, light maple notes, some wood. Lasting dark chocolate, dark sugar and baking cocoa. A powerful beer with an incredibly cohesive character. That’s really the strength of this beer, the fact that all elements seamlessly come together. I would say this beer is worthy of the almost universal acclaim it receives. I really hope to try this again sometime. Excellent.
