Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with tangerine hues and a two finger frothy off-wife head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting cap. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Sweet, slightly leathery malt aroma with a complex hop profile balancing out the boozy sweetness. Citrus/tropical notes of pineapple, tangerine and grapefruit followed by resinous pine, grass, leathery malt, caramel, toffee and biscuit. There’s a touch of alcohol in the nose but more subtle than expected.
Full chewy body with a huge blast of bitter, earthy hops that linger over the sweet and earthy/leathery malts. Dank, bitter and resinous with an earthy/grassy hop bite followed by sweet caramel malt backbone and subtle heat. Sticky pine needle flavor along with grapefruit and orange peel sweetness countered by caramel malt and toffee toward the finish. Really well balanced and smooth with the high abv excellently masked. Would never have guessed that it was 15%. Another solid entry in the backstage series but not worth the exorbitant price. hackobock (4007) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 11, 2015
April 30, 2015. Bottle, vintage 2012, shared by madmitch76, thanks! Boutip (6321) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 30, 2015
Hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, dark sugar, figs, notes of bourbon alcohol, vanilla and citrus. Taste is sweet, sticky caramel, toffee dried fruits and medium bitter with citrus pith notes. Sweet sticky finish with hints of warming alcohol. Medium bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation.
Bottle: Poured a clear light copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of residual sugar notes with light toffee and caramel notes is very nice. Taste is also dominated by residual sugar notes, with some light toffee notes and light caramel notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and light warming alcohol. I was expecting sugar bomb but while this is still a sweet beer I thought it had enough attenuation for the style. jacobrm (39) - - JUL 1, 2015
Very good blonde barley wine.

A masterfully made barleywine - for such a high abv value its a very easy drinker indeed, and the cellared bottle I enjoyed had loads of bourbon flavor and a decent amount of sweet smokiness. Cant specifically taste any maple underneath all the other great stuff, though who could really expect to? Yummy late night dessert treat!

Bottle split at the sleepy-rapping tasting at Ronny & Alex’s pad, CBC fine tuner, 30/04/15.
Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering.
Nose is rich malt, spice, toffee, dates, figs, light booze fumes.
Taste comprises rich fruit rinds, spice, malt backbone, caramel, figs, fruit cake.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with lightly warming booze.
Decent barley wine, drinks way below the big 15% billing! thomat (3828) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 15, 2015

Bigger tasting at Ronny’s flat, Copenhagen. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry with modest fine carbonation. Spicy caramel malts. Brandyish alcohol. Dried fruits. Semi dry finish and a spicy linger. Still quite warm after a couple of years. Decent though.
