Aroma - medley of pine, citrus to include grapefruit and lemon, and some oaky notes. Appearance - copper color body, clean liquid, and a full 1 1/4" white head that slowly settles, and very nice lacing. Taste - combination of assertive piney/citrus, oaky bourbon booze like quality Palate - body is medium; texture is oily; the carbonation lively; finish is bitter and boozy.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2014 This is not a beer to sit on, store or age if you are an out and out hop head. If you have a bottle I would open it soon before all of the hops fade out. But you already knew that. Although I wonder if this might age and ripen into a barleywine. Drank relatively fresh this is a bold DIPA with a bourbon burn from the barrels. Solid malts and resinous, mossy finish. Forward with malt and very hop centric. Doom is a cult classic and it is easy to see why. UPDATED - this does ripen pretty well into a Barleywine esque beer. Great with a year on it. Very mellow, hops still linger.

750 ml bottle and draft at Big Beers and barley wines. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have a good dose of bourbon, citrus, resin, wood, vanilla. Medium plus sized body that melds the barrel and the beer pretty well. Sure the hops are faded, but I kind of like this one.

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Chris! Vibrant amber body with exceptional clarity, topped with a frothy, foamy, fine-bubbled, bright white head that leaves lots of nice, webbed lacing on the way down. Aroma is lovely; its like shoving your nose directly into a pineapple. Extreme tropical fruit blast with onset notes of residual sweetness & warm vanilla from the barrel. Not much bourbon explicitly, but the pineapple & mango presence is wonderful. The taste, however, is a different story. Even though the nose didnt show it at the, the flavor is a bourbon bomb up front... Its not "hot", shockingly enough, just full of nothing but bourbon flavor. Very light notes of oak, vanilla, & pineapple with a timid, back-end leafy hop character. Warmth definitely brings out more notes of tangerine & mango with the pineapple, but the bourbon presence on the palate is disappointing, especially after the incredible aroma. Disappointed to say the least, I expected excellence after the nose but was sorely let down. Not awful but not great, either.

75cl, as Founders Doom, new exclusive American brew Anno 2013, thx to Secret Santa!, very complex bitter brew, alcoholic/bitter and slightly fruity/woody, heavy, yet balanced, cloudy, good head, good brew, yet expensive!

bomber poured clear bright orange color with minimal white head. lots of foamy lacing around the glass. the aroma of lots of hops sweet and sticky and bourbon barrel with traces of vanilla and booze. the flavor is double trouble through and through with that bourbonesque flavor, hints of vanilla, lots of hops and bourbon...about 45 degrees not real clue so the flavors are very strong. well done founders.

pours hazy golden with light white head smells of bourbon and toffee tastes of sweet toffee, malt, smokey and has a huge bourbon presence with some slight bitterness on the finish from the hops. medium body, light carbonation. Really good but most the india pale ale characteristics get washed away.

Bottle... Not fresh. :/ my parents live in gr so they got the bottles and I picked them up for Christmas. And still have one in the cellar... Anyway. Aroma is like a stale orange or so. Apricot. Yeah theres hints of bourbon. Oaky. Looks fine. Hazy sunset orange. Good lacing. Taste is like the smell. Orange. Bourbon. Oaky. Grapefruit... Apricot... Solid palate. Its a little aggressive but pretty smooth overall. The flavors sort of mash together.... A good beer overall but really not mind blowing. The IPA notes and the oaky bourbon notes really sort of mash together. Unique but Im not sure if its working 100%.

This didnt work for me, too much stuff going on that doesnt really work together to make an enjoyable beer. That has to be taken into account when designing a beer, do the flavors help or hurt each other, and is there a flavor profile you are trying to make. Barrel aged IPA or DIPAs inherently to not work, the caramel bourbon flavor from the barrel cuts out the hop character and combines to make something that doesnt satisfy either palate.
