COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Doom is re-released in 2017 as part of Founders "Barrel-Aged" series, and its abv raised to 12.4%.
Doom is unleashed when Founders’ award-winning specialty Imperial IPA, Double Trouble, is aged in bourbon barrels for four months to create a distinct flavor experience. So, while Double Trouble is brewed to turn your world upside down, Doom is brewed to tear it apart: pungent hops conspire with boozy bourbon notes to send your senses spinning.

I actually dont think this beer is getting enough praise. Clear, medium orange. Large frothy creamy white head, quite a bit lasting. Aroma has lots of hops, ctirus/grapefruit, pine, good amount of caramel, and nice bourbon barrel character: bourbon, vanilla, wood. Good depth to the aroma and more blended and balanced than I anticipated. Flavor follows suit. Really nicely balanced. The sharp bitterness of the Double Trouble has been tamed. Full body but not thick. Creamy./Oily. The bourbon barrel character really comes on in the finish..hops linger. My first barrel-aged IPA and it exceeded my expectations. I think Doom is significantly improved over the base.

Bottle thanks to Jen. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is floral hop and bourbon. Medium mouthfeel with sweet vanilla and light fruity hop with nice lingering sweet finish. Very impressive.

On tap at Piper’s Pub. Pour is hazed golden amber with white head. Nose is light bourbon, sticky caramel, pine resign, touch of pine sol. Taste is more bourbon, still sticky resigny hop, notes of citrus and lots of pine. Body is full, fairly assertive carb, syrupy texture.

poured a cloudy yellow orange wit a withe head. aroma light hops and medium grade bourbon, orange and a some malt and vanilla. flavor I liked the hops and bourbon don’t know if I would want to have this on a regular bases maybe every 4-6 months would be nice. I liked that the bourbon didn’t dominate this and let the hops stand out

Drought. Slightly hazy rich yellow color, very small off-white foamy head, fruity aroma, sweetish taste with a strong kick of bourbon towards the end, average carbonation, long finish with the whisky deliciously lingering on your palate. Very interesting and butt-kicking beer!

Bottle in Eagle with friends and family. Pour is hazy orange with a big white head and great lacing. Piney, grapefruity, lightly spicy, coconut, caramelly, light bourbon, and brown sugary aroma. Taste is big coconut, grapefruit, light pineapple, caramelly, bready, spicy, slightly boozy with aw big bitter finish. Slick mouthfeel with high carbonation. Not my favorite, but not bad.

Bomber to glass mug. Pours a copper / amber color and has the scent of bourbon / sweetness. Nice malty backbone, with hop flavors subdued by the booze / malts. Pretty good. I’m not going nuts over it, though.

Bottle into snifter..medium orangey hue..haze is more apparent when held up to light..average whitish tan head..aroma is big..big boozy notes with vanilla..wood..bourbon presence all in play..reminds me of a skor bar dipped in bourbon..texture is quite creamy..medium body on sip..some citrusy hop notes are more noticeable on taste..long lingering finish with a slight alcohol burn from the high abv..probably will see how other bottle ages..since the bourbon really takes over the act now..interesting nonetheless..

Pours a pale orange yellow with a thin soapy head. Aroma of vanilla, butterscotch, with hints of citrus and earthiness. Sweet vanilla taste with a hop hit and resiny citrus finish. Booze comes through. Better as it warms.
