On tap at the Brick Store Sweet Sixteen Party. Yellow pour, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is nice floral hops, vanilla, butterscotch, and some bread dough. The flavor is significant bitterness, but well balanced with good malty sweetness. The body is heavy, nicely effervescent, and creamy. This is a very nicely done barrel aged IPA! Good balance and the barrel doesn’t destroy the hop profile. The mouthfeel is very nice. I wish I could drink more of this.

The barrel-aged essence combined with strong, imperial foundation is fascinating - a real treat! Best savored like a fine bourbon or Scotch without food or or any other distractions other than the sunset & sounds from the nearby forest. Sip, don’t drink. From 12 oz. bottle purchased today & enjoyed on a pleasant summer evening.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange. The smell is citrus and fruity like a IPA. The palate is light and crisp. The taste is big bourbon barrel. Sweet bourbon and oaky. Then a citrus grapefruit finish. I didn’t have high hopes but I was proven wrong by the taste.

Even toned gold with a half inch of white head. Aroma is woody caramel, and some fruity hop note. Taste is the same, with a white wine edge up front, and astringent wood and alcohol into the finish, all tempered with vanilla. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromas are diverse - orange, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, some mild peppery spice, a little pine/spruce. Color is a light amber/orange with a small off-white head. Taste is fairly sweet (probably from the 12% alcohol, which is otherwise well hidden); bitterness is high but balanced by the sweetness and variety of flavors. Body is medium; alcohol is fairly well disguised; texture is oily; carbonation average; finish is long... Overall I like this beer quite a bit - the flavors are complex and diverse; it is also very well balanced for an imperial IPA, definitely not just a hop bomb.

Pours a clear amber with a healthy white head which hangs around a while......aroma of sweet maltiness, vanilla.....taste is bourbon, sweet malt, booze, touch hollow in the middle then oak, booze and bitterness hang around long after the beer is gone.

Bottle from McHughs. Pours clearish amber with thin white head. Aroma is molasses, vanilla, toffee, oak, whiskey, pine, earthy, brown sugar. Flavour is a a sticky toffee with brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, soft alcohol bitter finish. A barleywine by any standard. Barrel aged imperial it is not.

Bottle to glass. A moderate vanilla and boozy aroma. Moderate grassy hops. Fairly clear gold pour with a large off white head. Taste is initially bitter then some aged cheesy hops with grassy notes. This is a decent barrel aged Barleywine. Fairly sweet. Probably not a good DIPA. reminds me of Thomas creek DIPA.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2017 Large off white head with very good retention and a decent lace. Clear, light amber colored brew. Nose is woody, bourbony, slight pine notes, love the woody notes, love,m!. Body is med/full, dry on the palate, soft carbo, hint astringent, in a good way and a bit of gumption. Dry malts, light boozy notes, nicely lumbered (fuckin oakey dare i say!!?? WOW) vanilla and wood with light piney notes, earthy and fairly sublime. Dry finish, nice bite, bone dry and lovely, sappy?? Thanks for the short BAging, well done! Gotta say OAK! I dig it! 12oz bottles from statelineliquors. ABI blows

Bottle from Aj’s Beer Warehouse. Aroma is overwhelming vanilla, with a bitter hop finish. Could use more balance.
