Golden pour with a white head. Smells like bourbon and sweet caramel and the taste follows it up. Vanilla caramel is what I am getting, which dominates the body, combined with the bourbon makes this an extremely well rounded smooth beer. Towards the finish I started tasting a little butterscotch which led into a finish similar to that of a straight up bourbon on the rocks. If you appreciate great bourbon and great IPA then this is a dream beer.

Another great barrel aged beer from Founders. Boozy, hoppy aroma. Amber coloring with medium head when poured. Big booze taste added to the elements of Double Trouble IIPA. Highly recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ar: Faint grassy hops, a bit resinous; toasted malt, slight caramel edge; a refined hint of wood, bourbon, and vanilla. Ap: Copper-orange and clear; medium-large off-white head with amazing retention, leaving a thick cap of froth. T: Toast and resin, with a moderate sweetness; lemon, pine, and grapefruit rind; sweet light caramels; bitterness is firm and quite clean; pineapple and clean booze; slight wood tannins and smoky vanilla on the long finish. P: Medium-full body with medium-high carbonation, very luscious and creamy; finish is medium-dry. O: With the wood, bourbon, and toast malt tones, this beer comes across as a barleywine (and a good one, at that!); however, the big bitterness and New World hop flavor, along with the drying finish, put this up there as a solid imperial IPA in its own right.

Pours a clear amber with carbonation with white head. A strong caramel malt, citrus hop and vanilla aroma. A strong bourbon taste with caramel malts and hops. A lingering borubon and sweet malt aftertaste.

To my husband's delight had this bottle in the Basking Ridge. Always love a nice strong alcohol taste in my beer, really amazing imperial IPA. Really amazing beer, I'm feeling sad that it will soon end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Love it. Im not a big IPA dude anymore, but this is the imperial to go for in 2017, no doubt. Well balanced mouth feel, goes down easy, slightly sweet, and subdued yet clear hops. Perfect for spring, so it was released at a nice time. Evokes feelings of cool red autumn, but it feels perfect sipping in the May sun. Founders does it again.

Clear deep copper to mahogany pour with a two finger, creamy, slightly sudsy head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, lots of mellow vanilla, oak, a hint of sweet wood smoke, sweet juicy citrus and hints of spicy hops. Flavor is bourbon barrel, toasty vanilla, oak (with more noticeable char than the aroma), a hint of anise, lots of caramel, nutty toffee, deep citrusy notes, a hint of charred citrus and light, sweet tree fruit. Medium body, creamy entry; medium, almost spritzy carbonation, off dry, kinda chewy, slightly juicy finish, with just a hint of alcohol warmth and slickness. Really damn tasty, possibly dangerous in the wrong situation, way too drinkable, smooth and oddly refreshing for 12.4%, blackout juice.

Pours a light orange, clear, heady cream, lacey. Malt bourbon and somewhat unidentifiable hops. Woody vanilla. Same in taste, boozy coconut vanilla, bit of cherry wood boourbon. Booze in finish. Freaking 12.4%. Crazy drinkable with a boozy kick.

Bottled at Clubhouse BFD event. 2013 vintage. Pours golden color, white head. Aroma is citrus, lemon rind, and malty pineapple. some oak, bourbon-ish. Flavor is orange, lemon, oak, caramel maltiness, surprisingly (but not unwelcome) bitter finish. Very solid.

Bottle. Colour...deep gold with a thick white head. Nose...big, boozy and hot with deep, dense hops and something like booze soaked corn syrup. Palate...massively cloying and yet incredibly dry, this bad boy reeks of boozy Bourbon barrel goodness and sweetly spiced grapefruit sections. The booze does not relent and carries through the big, dry and hoppy finish.
