Some citric, pine, vanilla, and bourbon on the nose, but not enough of anything to make it very appealing. It pours well into a Greenbush snifter, but flattens quickly as it warms. Taste is mild sweetness followed by medium bitterness, but the mouth feel is too light. I was underwhelmed overall.

Ruddy orange pour. sweet vanilla aroma. Sweet caramel and vanilla flavor, notes of wood and bourbon.

Bottle from my brother. Can’t believe the low ratings. This is top notch. Glowing orange copper body initial two fingers fluffy head subsides to tightly beaded cap. Nice mellow aroma of citrus and mats yield little clue to what comes next. Taste explodes on the tongue, orange peel, Bourbon notes, sweet malt, butterscotch. More woody Bourbon notes waft up on the finish, kind of boozy, gentle warmth. This is really well crafted, and the barrel aging dances cheek to cheek with the lovely IIPA. Damn near perfect.

Pretty good example of the style, but it’s really starting to hit home just how horrible the IIPA style is. I mean, at first it was cool to have beers that were hopped beyond belief, but all those hops, with all that booze and heavy body. As Moxie is to soda, IIPA is to beer. So anyway, a big snoot full of citrus and resiny hops at the nose, flavor chewy with the resiny hops, heavy bready/caramel malts, quite bitter at finish but the malts are strong enough to give it balance, if you call a beer this big balanced, which it isn’t, really.

Amber color. Big , white head . Aroma of caramel malt , wood and hint of pine. Balanced taste with notes of oak , vanilla and molasses. Warming finish. Well hidden alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It pours clear copper with a white head. The aroma has caramel, wood, must, rich malt and some tropical hops. Medium full body with semi sharp carbonation. The taste has a good bit of alcohol, wood, big rich toasted malt, woody barrel and some bright his on the back. While hops are minor in the initial taste there is a lingering pine, earthy and zesty resin that sticks of the tongue. Pretty good

A very unique and tasty IPA. Pours orange with a white head. Smells of bourbon, pineapple, marshmallows. More marshmallows in the taste, throughout. Along with pineapple and bourbon. Quite good. Had on tap at Baileys. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Absolutely delicious from Founders. The oak and vanillas notes really compliment the bitterness of the hops, without the intense caramel notes you generally have with barrel aged imperial stouts (not saying I don, like those--I do--but the juxtaposition of flavors is really interesting here). Founders really nailed it with this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
