Loads of bourbon barrel notes in the aroma, vanilla, wood, toffee, caramel, some toast aromas as well. It's more or less the same with the taste. Great stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2018 Pour is think black with a tan head. Aroma is sweet whisky/bourbon, oak, vanilla a little like chard meat! Flavour is a little bit smoky but ver sweet like a good smooth bourbon

Barwa ciemnobursztynowa, wpadająca w brąz, piwo klarowne, niezła piana. Aromat to połączenie czerwonych owoców (wiśnia, czereśnie) z nutami pochodzącymi od dębowych beczek po bourbonie. W smaku zaznaczona kwaśność, delikatna cierpkość, wanilia, karmel, czerwone owoce i trochę drewna. Niskie nasycenie, goryczka średnia, piwo zdecydowanie degustacyjne, alkohol bardzo dobrze ukryty.

Pours a deep, dark amber, mahogany coloration with a medium, creamy head. Intoxicating aroma of bourbon, vanilla, red berries, especially redcurrant, dark fruit: blackcurrant, fig, plum; and bready malt. Taste is incredibly complex, dominated by dark, bready, caramel malts with a lovely, mellow bourbon note and strong notes of vanilla, oak and redcurrant. Notes of toffee, dark fruit, chocolate and smoke as well. Finishes with a great combination of light sweetness, medium bitterness and redcurrant. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel with low carbonisation. An expertly balanced Scotch Ale that is just fucking awesome.

Bottle, release 2017. Color: Dark ruby, thin beige head. Taste: Dark red fruit (cherries, dates), roasted malt, nuts, caramel. Combined with some hoppyness, bourbon notes, spices and hints of wood and smoke. Below average carbonation, above average to full body. Long lasting fruity finish. Pretty unique taste, complex but well balanced. Lightly sticky finish. Nice one.

355ml bottle from The Grumpy Goat, Reading. Very dark reddish brown colour with tan head. Big sweet dark malts, big dark fruits, raisins, big liqueur soaked dark cherries, blackcurrant jam, wood barrel, bourbon, scotch, caramel, molasses, light smoke, warming alcohol, dates, weird light Turkish delight. Pretty boozy. Nice one, I need to drink more of this style.

1 finger off-white head. Deep, very dark ruby coloured beer.

Aroma is soaked raisins, barrel, vanilla, creamy toffee and dried dates with hints of overripe cherries and smoke.

Taste is raisins, toffee, vanilla, oats, smoky whisky and oak barrel with hints of liquorice.

Mouthfeel is rich with an atypical soft but rather high carbonation. Medium-low, nutty bitterness. Ever so slightly sticky. A bit high on carbonation.

Overall: Dirty Bastard's older, more tasty brother. Great Scotch this one, would've liked more stickiness and a bit less carbonation. Great sipper but drinks rather easily as well. In no way would I've been able to guess this was a 11,6% ABV beer. Founders can do no wrong.

Bottle from Lcbo. Date on bottle unclear. Pours dining room table brown. Skin of scattered foam. Smells like burnt sugar, smoked peat, treacle. Booze is warming but in no way does it burn like you’d think a 11.6% would. I’m going to pay for this tomorrow morning. The barrel is finely integrated. Tastes like Jim beam & cola, dried fruit, slightly spicy, berries infused with balsamic vinegar. Serious stuff. Sip this slowly. Burning in water, drowning in flame.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2018 My goodness. I feel like I’m getting away with something when I’m drinking this one. Dirty Bastard is my favorite Founders beer (but let’s face it they’re all great) and putting it in an oak bourbon barrel is nothing short of genius. Or easy. I can’t tell. I can’t care. This beer is awesome.
